  5. Yet one more benefit of quitting...I went to the optometrist this morning. Nothing serious, I just needed a new prescription. I have been using artificial tears and on more extreme occasions of irritation a gel that you put in your eyes right before going to bed. He asked how that was going and I informed him that I haven't had issues with dryness and irritation of late. Long story short, since I quit smoking my eyes are in better shape and far less prone to irritation. This is in spite of the fact that this is the height of allergy season in Tennessee. Once we put two-and-two together, it was clear that smoking was a major factor in the eye issues I was having. For years I have attributed my eye issues to allergies or lack of sleep. It was those damn cigarettes that were causing my issues. Some of you reading this may well be lurkers still on the fence about quitting. You may even tell yourself that you feel fine. What you feel is normal; normal for you. If you quit, you will feel better than your normal and a variety of issues will clear up. Issues that you may not even realize are related to smoking. Do yourself a favor and quit. It's not as difficult as you likely think it will be and the benefits rack up in a way that will surprise you.
  6. There it is! It is liberating to find out what awaits us when we take back control from our addiction. Some people just get it and you're clearly one of those people. Proceed.

6 Sticks don't cheat, we just count creatively.
  10. Speaking strictly for myself...The captain does not wear a hat. I just go where the conversation takes me.
  11. Hillbillies gettin' down. My people!
  12. Welcome aboard. Beacon already touched on the issue, but the idea of cigarettes calming anxiety is a myth. All smoking does is temporarily relieve nicotine withdrawal. When we smoked all we got for our efforts was a temporary reprieve from withdrawal, but all other underlying issues were not addressed by smoking. Cigarettes offer you no positive benefits. Quitting on the other hand offers a practically infinite number of benefits. When you break the chains of smoking, your confidence will be improved. There is a momentum started when we quit. That momentum has the potential to lead you to wonderful new places in your life. Here at the Quit Train you will find educational resources and great support anytime you need it. Check back in often.

  19. Three is the magic number. Good work TAC.
  20. A day late for my own celebration. As usual my timing is impeccable. Thanks for the well wishes. I took the liberty to pick out a gif for you. One that adequately portrays the amount of excitement you must have felt upon hearing that it's my birthday.

  22. I hate that you're struggling, but love that you're working it. Just keep at it and the struggle will disappear. Good work Jess.

  24. Congratulations to Daisy and Joe. Great job. The title of this thread cleared up a mystery for me. I've seen Bakon make reference to Bigfoot and I had no idea who he was talking about. I wouldn't have guessed Daisy, but what do I know.

About us

QuitTrain®, a quit smoking support community, was created by former smokers who have a deep desire to help people quit smoking and to help keep those quits intact.  This place should be a safe haven to escape the daily grind and focus on protecting our quits.  We don't believe that there is a "one size fits all" approach when it comes to quitting smoking.  Each of us has our own unique set of circumstances which contributes to how we go about quitting and more importantly, how we keep our quits.
