  1. Top shelf quit. Good job G67.
  2. Articles about the business practices of the merchants of death strengthened my quit during the early days of the process. I vowed to never buy another pack of smokes as I refused to give the bastards another dime of my money. There's no harm in a bit of righteous anger so long as it's aimed at the proper targets.
  3. Congratulations PeachFuzz. You're doing great.
  4. Another of my favorite quotes...
  5. Good job Robbie. The process of quitting basically boils down to a series of choices. You chose well.
  6. I've been on an Otis Redding kick all day...
  7. Coffee is a better and far more reliable drink than most, if not all, of those "pre-workout" drinks they sell at various health food and supplement places. The pre-workout drinks are just highly caffeinated mixes. The labeling looks impressive and the claims made by the company are many, but ultimately it's just caffeine. And in my opinion, the best post-workout drink is still a glass of whole milk. None of the supplement companies have developed a product yet that is better than whole milk.
  8. Fun Fact: Johnny Cash was a Morse code interceptor for the United States Air Force. Cash was stationed in Germany in 1953 and intercepted the message that Joseph Stalin had died. Johnny Cash was the first person from the West to hear the news. Johnny Cash knew of Stalin's death before President Eisenhower did. Now, back to the music.
  9. I had some goofy ideas about quitting smoking in the past. For one, I associated "breaks" with smoking. Thus, when I quit smoking I felt the need to give up breaks of any sort. I finally figured out that I wasn't going to get bonus points for making the process more difficult than it needs to be. Started taking "non-smoking breaks" throughout the day. Sometimes, it would be a short walk-around. Other times I would do some push-ups and/or pull-ups. Many times my breaks consisted of nothing more than stepping outside and doing a bit of deep breathing. A little pause for the cause is good way to reset yourself.
  10. Aww...I show up late to the party again. Jillar is passed out surrounded by empty Coors Light cans. Bakon did something stupid and was asked to leave. Doreen has put her clothes back on and gone home...I missed all the fun. Congratulations Jillar. Five years of freedom is cause for celebration. (Insert random bunny meme here)
  11. Good job Wayne.
  12. These are the moments where quits are built. The easy moments are welcomed, but it's those challenging moments where the rubber meets the road. Good job Gus. You passed the test.
  13. Trust your instincts. If you feel like alcohol is a threat to your quit, stay away from it. Quitting smoking is priority one.
  14. So you're saying you have a good twin?
  15. But, but...I'm Boo. I also drive a Ford. So many questions...Do I have a doppelganger up north? Is he my evil twin? Or maybe he's the good twin, who can tell anymore? Why do I always assume that with twins there is a good one and an evil one? Fire up the Mystery Machine gang, we're going to Ohio!

    Update

Lookin' good Jimmy. I've got an idea for a ZZ Top tribute band...I'll get back to you with the details.
  17. Happy Birthday Robbie and congratulations on being smoke-free. Twice the reasons to celebrate.
  18. Good job Sirius. Congratulations.
  19. I'm always a bit suspicious of books and movies that place a heavy emphasis on a character smoking. I smoked tens-of-thousands of cigarettes in my life and nothing of particular interest ever happened while I was getting my fix. If I were to write the story of my life, I don't think any of the times I stood outside and toked on a cigarette would be worthy of a mention.
  20. Congratulations on being nicotine free Gus. Hope you're feeling better now.
  21. Put some hope in your rope, just say NOPE.

About us

QuitTrain®, a quit smoking support community, was created by former smokers who have a deep desire to help people quit smoking and to help keep those quits intact.  This place should be a safe haven to escape the daily grind and focus on protecting our quits.  We don't believe that there is a "one size fits all" approach when it comes to quitting smoking.  Each of us has our own unique set of circumstances which contributes to how we go about quitting and more importantly, how we keep our quits.
