    Dee'z Nuts

Deez Nuts has less baggage than those other two and is used to being stuck between a pecker and an A-hole, which is perfect for politics.

  4. Likely built by the lowest bidder. Good luck out there!
  5. Happy Birthday, Tracey. Make it a good one.
  6. Good stuff. That first picture is classic. That's a man who has it all together. And then the newspaper article...98 years old and running circles around people half his age. Happy Birthday, sir.
  7. Last night the local news ran a story about this study: http://www.tctmd.com/show.aspx?id=136042. The basic summary of the study was that quitters offered financial incentives had better long-term success rates than those offered only support and vouchers for quitting aids. I don't disagree with the basic premise, however I do feel the researchers missed the forest for the trees. There was some consternation about where the money to pay quitters would come from. Increased taxes on cigarettes were mentioned as were incentives offered by insurance providers to insured quitters. This seems to me to be a great deal of unnecessary hand-wringing. Quitting smoking and improved finances are a package deal. When you quit smoking, you quit buying cigarettes thus removing a self-imposed tax. Quitters, in effect, pay themselves. Just yesterday, Joe wrote about saving $10,000 in under three-years by quitting. There's your financial incentive right there. If you want to quit and have more money, just quit. Sometimes the only helping hand you need is at the end of your arm.

    Team G.B

Great Britain has pulled even with China in gold medals and is closing the gap in overall medals. Good job Brits. And not to be obnoxious or anything, but...sitting atop the count is the good ol' U-S-of A. U-S-A! U-S-A!

  15. I remember the night I became a full-fledged smoker. Not counting the odd one here or there I could get my hands on in my younger days. It was a stupid beginning to a stupid addiction. I was doing some underage drinking with friends when one of my cohorts told me: "hey man, if you smoke while you drink it will make you buzz harder." We were quite the brain trust. Long story short, I smoked several cigarettes that night and came to the next morning wanting more. Addiction is born. It's easy to shake my head at the youthful stupidity involved in my decision to start smoking. It's a little harder to come to terms with the fact that I allowed myself to stay trapped for the next 25 years.

-13 I just saw a story on the national news about the flooding in Louisiana. Bad action. Here's hoping y'all dry out soon and we get some sustained rains here. There has to be a happy medium between floods and droughts somewhere.

-13 More like damp and mild. No rain means no steep creeking. I need to work on my raindance.

  21. Grab your seat Evelyn. You know the drill. Freedom is attainable and there is not one good reason for you to continue punishing yourself by smoking. Time to get this thing done once and for all. As for being "pissed" at you...nope. I think I can safely speak for the board when I say we hate the addiction not the addict. From one addict to another, welcome back.

About us

QuitTrain®, a quit smoking support community, was created by former smokers who have a deep desire to help people quit smoking and to help keep those quits intact.  This place should be a safe haven to escape the daily grind and focus on protecting our quits.  We don't believe that there is a "one size fits all" approach when it comes to quitting smoking.  Each of us has our own unique set of circumstances which contributes to how we go about quitting and more importantly, how we keep our quits.
