4 This is one of those days where a late night melted into a way too early morning.

4 Is anybody else dog-tired from staying up way too late watching election results?
  3. I make my own. Same recipe that's been in the family for years. I can't defend the amount of sugar and empty calories contained in the golden nectar that is sweet peach tea, but there's no conspiracy against me involved.
  4. Another month down. To the newbies I say: eight months ago, I was counting every hour and now entire months pass with little notice. To the old-timers (no offense) I say: you folks not only shed light on the path to freedom, but have helped me enjoy the journey immensely.

  6. I remember you saying your dad played the banjo. A bit of pickin' and grinnin' is good for the soul...
  7. If you don't know what sweet tea is you're better off not knowing. That stuff is harder to quit than cigarettes. My name is Boo and I'm a sweet peach tea addict.

  17. Welcome aboard the Train Marlene. I don't have much to add as you have already received some great advice here. Educate yourself about the true nature of nicotine addiction. Commit to the quit. And never lose sight of the fact that every bit of agitation experienced in the early days will eventually pay dividends that make the effort worth it many times over. It's natural to wonder in the early days of a quit if you can be successful. The answer to those questions is unequivocally, absolutely, positively YES...yes you can. Congratulations. Enjoy your newfound freedom from cigarettes.

    0 Good weekend morning.
  21. NOPE! I would hate to find myself staring down the business end of Doreen's frying pan.
  22. That end-task craving was a big one for me. The addiction is obviously a big part of the equation, but we also conditioned ourselves for years to treat the cigarette as a reward for a job completed. The good news is: you can replace something you used to do (smoking) with healthier and more beneficial alternatives. Stuart already mentioned walking. Brief breaks to get in some movement during long bouts of sedentary work are great for you physically and mentally. Getting moving will also help you feel less lethargic. I also suggest breathing exercises. They're often suggested as a means of dealing with nicotine cravings, but I find them very beneficial to perform throughout the day as a means of relaxing the mind and resetting yourself when things get hectic. There may well be moments when it doesn't feel like it, but rest assured...you are doing one of the best things for yourself you will ever do. Proceed.

About us

QuitTrain®, a quit smoking support community, was created by former smokers who have a deep desire to help people quit smoking and to help keep those quits intact.  This place should be a safe haven to escape the daily grind and focus on protecting our quits.  We don't believe that there is a "one size fits all" approach when it comes to quitting smoking.  Each of us has our own unique set of circumstances which contributes to how we go about quitting and more importantly, how we keep our quits.
