  1. As for resolutions...I quit smoking and started working out again in 2016 so I'm gonna have to come up with something new. Moderation perhaps. The only thing I've ever done in moderation is moderation.
  2. Trying to resist my charming ways? Good luck...
  3. Top shelf quit DD.

    -15 Morning all.
  7. For those about to quit, WE SALUTE YOU! A new year, a fresh start. If you are a smoker and you're reading this, there's a good chance a resolution to quit is on your mind. Why else would you be here? There is also a good chance that the very thought of quitting inspires some feelings of anxiety and fear. Good news...there's nothing to fear and that anxiety is a false construct that you have the ability to eliminate from your mind. Quitting is simple and painless. In developed countries, there are more ex-smokers than current smokers. The numbers are in and quitting smoking is a reality that any nicotine addict can achieve. Here's how you quit...you just quit. Quitting smoking requires no physical effort on your part. You simply refrain from doing something that you used to do. As for the all important mental aspects of quitting...that cigarette, that little death stick, is powerless. It only has what power you give it. The choice is yours. It always has been and always will be. There will be moments when you want a cigarette. That's fine and to be expected. With commitment and education you will simply refuse the urge. With each refusal, you will grow stronger and more confident. With strength and confidence comes success and with success comes freedom from cigarettes. Those feelings of uneasiness during the early days are not your body punishing you for quitting, that's your body readjusting and priming itself for more optimal performance in the near future. This process pays dividends that will make the effort seem minimal in hindsight. One path keeps you enslaved to the cigarette, the other path leads to freedom. Throttle down and stay the course to freedom. The process is empowering and the rewards are great. Stand up and be counted for what you're about to receive...

  16. Hope everyone had a great Christmas. As for me...Christmas Eve's first stop was my sister's house. The plan was, she would host the family get-together and the two of us would take care of the food for the meal. That way, mom wouldn't spend all week cooking and could simply enjoy Christmas Eve. When mom and dad showed up, they had a car full of serving plates, Tupperware containers, and various things wrapped in aluminum foil. There were nine of us there with food enough to feed fifty. Then we went down to my Aunt's house in Georgia. It was nice seeing the cousins from my mom's side of the family again. I hadn't seen some of them in a couple of years. One of my cousins has a four-year old daughter who memorized some Christmas songs. That kid managed to turn Rudolph the Red Nosed Reindeer into a twenty-minute jam session. Christmas Day by comparison was quite and laid back. Lounged around with the girlfriend this morning and we went up on Lookout Mountain and hiked for a couple of hours. The weather here was 72 degrees with partly cloudy skies. It didn't feel like Christmas, but was perfect weather for a hike.
  17. Smoke on Christmas Day? Bah humbug...NOPE!

About us

QuitTrain®, a quit smoking support community, was created by former smokers who have a deep desire to help people quit smoking and to help keep those quits intact.  This place should be a safe haven to escape the daily grind and focus on protecting our quits.  We don't believe that there is a "one size fits all" approach when it comes to quitting smoking.  Each of us has our own unique set of circumstances which contributes to how we go about quitting and more importantly, how we keep our quits.
