  2. That's how it starts. You just keep going and get through those initial days of the quit. Your body is healing and your mind is adjusting and adapting. That mental fog will clear with a bit more time. Quitting truly is one of the best things you can ever do for yourself. Buckle up, knuckle down, and drive on.

  7. Good work Jackie. It is very important to remember why you quit. When the "whys" of the quit are clearly embedded, the "hows" have a way of working themselves out. You've got yourself a successful quit going, congratulations.
  8. Welcome aboard nochoice. You won't be judged harshly here, this Train is full of nicotine addicts. As for those "crazy thoughts"...crazy thinking is par for the course during those early days of a quit. It's the duality of quitting. I remember reading about all the negative effects smoking has on our bodies. The long list of carcinogenic chemicals contained in each cigarette. The ways in which the addiction enslaves the smoker. And then thinking to myself: cigarettes are awful, but I could sure go for one right about now! Addiction and reason are in a constant struggle for your mind and body. The good news is: a successful quit is a simple matter of making the choice to refrain from sticking a cigarette in your mouth and lighting it on fire. Regardless of what thoughts or impulses you may have in the current moment, if you don't smoke you are doing everything needed to become a successful quitter. It is a simple process that yields great rewards. The journey is well worth any bumps in the path along the way. Enjoy the ride.
  9. NOPE!
  10. Nope. Past failed attempts do not mean you can't, they simply mean you didn't. Not yet anyway. There are lessons to take from each failure. Take those lessons, use them to your advantage, and then proceed to throw everything else from the past failures onto the scrap heap of history. Your past does not dictate your future unless you allow it to. Divorce yourself from any past failures and focus that attention on future success. You seem to have a lot of doubt about your ability to quit smoking. Here's what I took from reading your post: You have the desire to quit (you wouldn't be here if you didn't). You're open to learning (reading the forum, Allen Carr, etc.). You have the ability to set a goal and commit to succeed (weight loss, football training, studying...). Desire, education, and commitment...that's all you need. You already possess every tool needed to not only quit smoking, but to have a superb quit. You know the way to success it's just a matter of starting down that path now. The future is yours Juan.

  18. You're not only changing habits, but also changing your brain. Those old neural pathways that had us smoking like a chimney first thing in the morning start to diminish with each new decision. In their place, are the new pathways created by the decision to change course. Think better, live better. It may not always feel like it, but quitting smoking is a truly awesome process.

About us

QuitTrain®, a quit smoking support community, was created by former smokers who have a deep desire to help people quit smoking and to help keep those quits intact.  This place should be a safe haven to escape the daily grind and focus on protecting our quits.  We don't believe that there is a "one size fits all" approach when it comes to quitting smoking.  Each of us has our own unique set of circumstances which contributes to how we go about quitting and more importantly, how we keep our quits.
