  1. Getting all of my ducks in a row to start my next project. I'm building a small greenhouse on Boo Acres. I already have more than enough cedar to frame up the house. Yesterday, I picked up a truckload of old windows from a friend of mine that flips houses. All the windows cost me was a case of Yuengling beer...a good deal. We're starting small and learning on the fly, but becoming increasingly food independent is more important now than ever.
  2. Mindset is everything. Once you commit, really commit, to never smoking again you find the way. Godspeed Kdad.
  3. It's Strawberry Festival time folks...
  4. Perusing an online article with 77 recipes you can put together using strawberries. The Tennessee Strawberry Festival is underway here in my neck of the woods. We've got a parade. We've got live music. We've got a classic car show. We've got a "distinguished young woman" pageant. We've got vendors selling arts and crafts. And of course, we've got strawberries for days. If you're in the neighborhood, swing by and say hey.
  5. Great job Denali. Congratulations.
  6. Congratulations Steven. Prepare the Lido Deck. We've got one coming in hot.
  7. Ensnared by my own stupid prank. I find it amusing to annoy my wife and friends by playing really stupid songs. It's all fun and games until you get one of those stupid songs stuck in your head. And that's where I find myself now...BA-NANA!
  8. Contemplating the fact that I was guilty of two of the seven deadly sins tonight, and that was just at suppertime. I grilled Korean Barbecue for the first time tonight. Took a brisket, sliced it paper thin, and made Bulgogi. So long as I'm bragging about my culinary skills, I also made the marinade and Ssamjang sauce myself. I take pride in how well my barbecue turned out and gluttony was bound to ensue.
  9. Present and accounted for.
  10. Great job Sunnyside. Keep on keeping on...
  11. Condolences to you and yours Yoda. The ones we loved and lost live on through us.
  12. I need to learn the lyrics to this song or really get my whistling game on-point. Johnny Knoxville and Roger Alan Wade played this song last week as a palate cleanser. It's been in my head ever since and I played it for Maddie and Jackson tonight.
  13. Stating my built-in excuse for any nonsensical or unfortunate statements made here on Quit Train for the foreseeable future. We have two children under the age of two now. If you read something and think to yourself "What the hell is Boo talking about?"...the answer is sleep deprivation. It's a rock-solid excuse that covers most every situation.
  14. Great job Kris. Congratulations.
  15. Great job Dianne. Enjoy the lido deck.
  16. Dyed Easter eggs for the first time in what seems like forever tonight. Maddie had fun with it and Papa Boo has figured out that using a tarp like a drop clothe makes cleaning up after a toddler art project much easier. Some of our eggs didn't turn out perfect, but a good time was had. I was pleasantly surprised to see that the Paas company is not only still around but making the exact same product they produced when I was a kid. Dye tablets. Those wire egg dippers. The "magic crayon"...It was like opening a time capsule. Not to boast but I dropped a little extra for the "Deluxe" kit.
  17. Happy Easter folks.
  18. Welcome aboard the Quit Train Happy Passenger. Good call on giving up the smokes. Enjoy the ride.
  19. Motivation is fleeting and fickle. It takes commitment to quit. Figure out why you want to quit and the how will take care of itself.
  20. Thanks. Oddly enough, Sugar Britches is calmer than I am right now. And she's the one doing all the heavy lifting. Shout out to my mom and dad and for that matter, all parents everywhere. Pregnancy and childbirth is the most intensely emotional thing I've ever experienced.

About us

QuitTrain®, a quit smoking support community, was created by former smokers who have a deep desire to help people quit smoking and to help keep those quits intact.  This place should be a safe haven to escape the daily grind and focus on protecting our quits.  We don't believe that there is a "one size fits all" approach when it comes to quitting smoking.  Each of us has our own unique set of circumstances which contributes to how we go about quitting and more importantly, how we keep our quits.
