  2. I like this little analogy! You are doing such a great job!
  3. Thanks everyone for the little sayings and extra encouragement - happy to say Day 4 is nearly under my belt. Onto day 5!! :)
  4. I use dryer sheets in my car as air fresheners. I like it! Although, I have not smoked in this car so not sure how well it would mask that smell. I will tell you with my last car - when I quit my first time several years ago.. I gave it a real good vacuum with the high powered ones down at car washes. Then used some air fresheners and cracked my windows as much as I could. The smell was always still there but it really went away a lot after a few months.
  5. HI everyone - So I am officially on day 4 - in the past day 4 and 5 are the hardest for me. Once I can get over day 5, I become significantly stronger in my resolve to quit. For me, one of these two days is a likely failure point. I am going to be sticking close to the forums over the next two days - just reading whenever I feel weak! I think I should do OK considering when these days are hitting - (1) i'll be working most of the day. The weekend is harder because my Hubby is still smoking and the smell feels like it is all around me. Cigarettes are also present and accessible! (2) for my marathon training, I run on both Monday and Tuesday - so I have some workouts to look forward to in the evening. I am going to start posting motivation boosters around the house - sayings that help me stay strong! Does any have any good ones that have helped with their quit? Thank you all for all your support this far! It feels so much easier to get through this with you all on my side. :)
  6. Ok I'm posting that around my house!
  7. Yay! Week 1 done! Keep it up!
  8. That's awesome! Those couch 2 5k things are pretty fun (and they totally work if you ever want to run a 5k!)
  9. Thanks all for checking in. :) I'm still doing just fine. My toddler has been a handful this weekend and I've had a few moments like "man I could use a cigarette" but I'm almost through getting the nicotine out of my body... and at some point I have to stop this smoking thing... If I give in, then I just have to start over again. To be honest I just need to power through, I'm tired of having this whole process on constant repeat.
  10. Welcome, Kathy! I'm on day 3 (nicotine almost out of my system yay!) And this forum has helped A LOT! Stay close! Taking the nope challenge has really kept me going. I go online and pledge to nope first thing in the morning... then later in the day when I think about giving in I just think back to the pledge I already made that day and it seems to ground me. Also if u are going cold turkey, the fruit juice suggestions are golden. I never realized the blood sugar thing but getting some juice sips ever hour or so seems to help significantly in this withdrawal period!
  11. Great job!
  12. I did like weight watchers... I did it when I was 16 or 17... lost about 100 lbs - kept it off for a good long time too. I'm thinking about starting again, have gained over the last few years despite likes of exercise, I just need to get the food back on track!
  13. Running today (long run day) - now I shall sit on the couch the rest of the day!
  14. Long run today
  15. Still doing good! So onward to day two. Saturdays are always a little hard for me. It is long run day, so I do well until my run is over! Then I get to rest until Monday night... gives me the perfect break from training to get a little out of control. But this will not be me today. Already pledged to NOPE today! I'm sticking with it!
  16. No smoking for me today. Nope!
  17. Thanks for the tip on the fruit juice. I do have some in the fridge to sip on.
  18. Looks great!! I should probably catch that fever.... Lol
  19. Woohoo!!
  20. Doing good! Only been about 15 hours or so but I'm doing OK! Just keeping hydrated, staying busy, and not planning on smoking today! I am quit now!! Holding strong at this point. Just keeping positive and not moping about too much. It will be a hard first few days but I'll get through!! I am doing well, thank you for asking! Sticking to NOPE and not wavering one bit.
  21. This is so true!! Without that smoking time anymore and new energy reserves - it is like... why do I have this excess time? I have trouble doing things like watching TV for long periods of time. When I quit originally in November - I took up adult coloring books. Considering finishing one coloring sheet takes like 8 hours - i would work on it whenever I was feeling antsy. Just as a thought! A hobby that keeps your hands busy may help.
  22. Way to go!
  23. For early reading chapter books - - I loved The Adventures Of The Bailey School Kids - 1st in the series being Vampires don't wear polka dots - The Phantom Tollbooth - From the Mixed-up Files of Mrs. Basil E. Frankweiler For the younger picture book - - Clifford the Big Red Dog series - Harold and the Purple Crayon - The Mitten - For some reason this is like my favorite picture book ever!

About us

QuitTrain®, a quit smoking support community, was created by former smokers who have a deep desire to help people quit smoking and to help keep those quits intact.  This place should be a safe haven to escape the daily grind and focus on protecting our quits.  We don't believe that there is a "one size fits all" approach when it comes to quitting smoking.  Each of us has our own unique set of circumstances which contributes to how we go about quitting and more importantly, how we keep our quits.
