  6. Happy Chinese New Year everyone! Like the worldwide new year, this is a time for new chances. And it's the year of the Monkey, who represents life. Remember to open your windows (for a short time, it's cold out there) to let the new luck flow into the house!
  7. Hang in there. We're all here for you. Prayers for you and your little ones.
  8. I had fun at the photoshoot yesterday, although it was a little cold. I was The Musician. So I had a bard-like costume and my guitar with me. Though I think I left my hair brush at the photoshoot. Oops. When I get the link to the blog for The Musician I'll share it. For my reward for making it til Tuesday, dad's planning on getting me a Fitbit. So I gotta stay strong. But I'm back to being on the hunt for cigarettes. I had a dream last night that I found them. Not that I smoked them, but that I found them. Having them hidden from me is almost as much of a frustration as having them there but not smoking. My brain is just that way. If I can't find something, like a stuffed animal or DVD, then I struggle to find it. I'm struggling not to go to step two, which is to replace it. When I finally get to the point that I'm not craving anymore, I'm going to have mom show me just where she had been hiding them. Even if it takes a year. I swear, I'm not the girl you tell you have a secret then just walk away. I need to know!

  12. Good for you! I think taking action in this matter was the right thing to do. You have the right to enjoy yourself, whereever you are. Actually, I think it's the right to happiness. Either way, your neighbors were violating that right.
  13. Good job on putting them back. I don't think I can do that at the stage I'm at. And unfortunately I'm like my father. He's quit for 3 years, can be around cigarettes and cigarette smoke, but can refuse them so easily. Thing is, he still thinks about how good it felt and likes the smell of cigarette smoke.
  14. I'm on a mood stabilizer myself and the withdrawls from that are bad. I'm also on a sedative and anti depressive along with buproprion to help stop smoking. But I have really bad bipolar disorder. I sometimes wonder if that's making quitting harder. Mood swings can come with quitting too, which can be a trigger. I actually started crying a little the other night, and wanted a cigarette so bad. But even after the urge passed, I still wanted to cry, so I think that was just a mood swing. I think our bodies just do that, and if you're prone to mood swings, being on medication may not be so bad. Just talk to your doctor about a lower dosage or other options. I'm currently on Geodon (generic version thereof) which has made a huge difference in my life.

  16. Yesterday was great! Though I couldn't get this site to work for the life of me that night. Anyway, we went out for a nature walk with our cameras and no animals showed up, so that was kinda a disappointment. But driving on the way out were hawks and falcons that we took pictures of from inside the car. (We thought getting out might scare them away). Then we had McDonald's and came home. After that we brainstormed on what to do next so I suggested Old Sacramento where were could get taffy. It's actually soft enough for her to eat (Lost all her teeth from smoking) so she said to get a lot for her. Unfortunately we couldn't find any parking at all because they were celebrating Mardi Gras and we didn't check their calendar to see that. So we went driving around to two other stores to see if they had taffy. They didn't. But we did pick up some ginger candy since I get sick often and some strawberry pocky and almond sprinkled pocky. Then we went out and had dinner and came home and watched Taken. So, pretty good day, minimal cravings.

About us

QuitTrain®, a quit smoking support community, was created by former smokers who have a deep desire to help people quit smoking and to help keep those quits intact.  This place should be a safe haven to escape the daily grind and focus on protecting our quits.  We don't believe that there is a "one size fits all" approach when it comes to quitting smoking.  Each of us has our own unique set of circumstances which contributes to how we go about quitting and more importantly, how we keep our quits.
