  4. This is my first "real time" trying to quit too. The other times I "quit" I wasn't thinking permanently. I was pregnant two times, and one day went without a cig for 24 hours just to prove I wasn't addicted. (Then lit up as soon as the 24 hours was over.) So it was more of my simply not smoking than actually trying to quit. I've only been a non-smoker for 11 days, but I'm finding I enjoy life better now, even though I still get bored at times.
  5. I had a glass of wine with dinner the night before. Didn't phase me. But probably because I never drank and smoked. That would definitely have ruined the taste of my Chardonnay.
  6. I honestly thought it'd be harder than this. I'll admit, the first thing I wanted to do was step out onto the balcony and smoke, because I always did when we first got to our hotel room. And of course, all the rooms look the same. But I'm following as much of my routine here as I can. Going for walks in the Courtyard, early in the morning before the smokers get out there. Making my coffee. (They have a small machine here.) And getting on the forums to at least pledge NOPE. I went to a D&D game yesterday from 2 til 9. It seems to me I've become more patient, though just as fidgety. I got up to walk around a few times, but didn't leave the room except to go get dinner. Not one craving while playing, which, I used to smoke during game all the time. I'm actually staying up and alert for the game as well, which I like. I do not miss smoking at all right now. I'm able to be engaged with the story without wondering when my next smoke is gonna be.
  7. I love baking too! This isn't so healthy, but I'm baking a cake for our graduation from our smoking cessation class. And not from a box!

  12. This is gonna be awesome!
  13. Make a ticker! I don't know about you, but it helps me to see it in tough moments. Especially since my previous quit was only 24hrs.

  17. Today I'm leaving for DunDraCon. I know they're'll be people there who smoke, so I'm staying away from them. And I'm going with a non-smoker friend. I rarely have any reason to be alone while we're there, so there's no excuse for me to go outside and join the smokers. And I'm going to keep telling myself that so I don't go out and ask someone for a smoke. I may not be around a lot, or at all, during the next few days.
  18. I'm just hoping to make it a year. I know, focus on the now.
  19. At my smoking cessation class they offered us either the patch or bupropion. They did not offer Chantix because if its side effects. But also gave us the option of not using anything at all. This was through my HMO. But the biggest thing they gave us was steps to quitting smoking and gave us two weeks to mentally prepare ourselves by saying things like "I used to smoke" 10x a day and getting used to taking deep breaths.
  20. I've heard that about five years in is when you're likely to relapse after going for a few years. Anyone else hear this, or is it just a rumor?

About us

QuitTrain®, a quit smoking support community, was created by former smokers who have a deep desire to help people quit smoking and to help keep those quits intact.  This place should be a safe haven to escape the daily grind and focus on protecting our quits.  We don't believe that there is a "one size fits all" approach when it comes to quitting smoking.  Each of us has our own unique set of circumstances which contributes to how we go about quitting and more importantly, how we keep our quits.
