  1. -11 A little better, not much though. I had an appt with my therapist today though and we talked through my morning triggers and found one was dad leaving the house, because I would get a little depressed and felt alone. I hadn't realized I was feeling that way when dad left in the morning, and why my craves go away a little in the afternoon when it's close time to dad coming home.
  2. Sleep well! Remember, tomorrow is your day!
  3. Congratulations, Nancy! I hope to get there some day. One day at a time, huh?
  4. -9 Lively conversation you have here.
  5. Wow, I hadn't noticed how much quitting affects you. This explains a few things. Though, my depression got so bad I had to see my psychiatrist. Thankfully this time I'm not dealing with the heavy suicidal depression I had last time. Remember everyone, some depression is normal, but if it doesn't go away or really bothers you, see a doctor about it. It could be worse than just withdrawl.
  6. Great plan, Bday! And if you like pokemon, try Pokemon Go! I just made a post about it in the exercise forum. You literally walk around with your phone and try to catch pokemon that show up. I've been out on multiple walks today looking for pokemon, and it's such a nice distraction. Welcome to the Quit Train!
  7. So, I grew up with Pokemon and decided to download this new Pokemon Go app. Basically you walk around collecting pokemon. And I really mean walk around. I walked around the block in my neighborhood and caught pokemon, even crossing the street to do so. It's been a great distraction. So now when I go out for my walk, I open the Pokemon Go app and search for pokemon as I'm walking. I even walked around the house looking for one, and around my therapist's parking lot trying to get a scyther. But I couldn't find it. :( I found one just as my therapist called me in before then too, and showed her the app. Best part is it's free! Well, there's apparently coin you can buy, but on the site it said you can earn it other ways. The park by my house is also considered a landmark, and it's just around the corner from my house, so I can get free items (at what's called pokestops, and you have to walk close to it wherever it is in the park) and possibly pokemon eggs from there. And you have to walk around a lot to hatch an egg. On a screenshot I saw one that took two kilometers (might be miles in the American version). So I'm using this along with my fitbit that's coming in the mail to get out and walk more. Places like malls also have places where you can get items. My therapist's office was a pokestop, and so was the building next to it. Just something to throw out there if you want something to entertain yourself while you exercise. It's been a lot of fun! Okay, I'm going to finish my bao now and head out to find more pokemon.
  8. That's awesome! I'm thinking of joining a gym. I think they have classes for a lot of stuff in there.
  9. Thanks for posting this! It's awesome!
  10. You know, I've never had a manicure or a pedicure before? Just never thought about it. I wouldn't know where to go get one. Movies, unfortunately, are too expensive. I just saw one with a friend and it almost cost me $50 for the tickets and snacks (thankfully he had a rewards card and the movie tickets were free, so I just paid about $20 in snacks). I've had some cereal, a red bean paste bun (more delicious than it sounds), a granola bar, a Clif bar (you know, those dense nutrient things) and a banana so far. Doesn't sound like much, but I fill up pretty fast. Right now I'm chilling outside in the shade with a glass of ice water and chatting with a friend on Skype. I've gone for two walks already today. Though the fourms I'm on are a little slow today so I'm still a little bored. I did read some of my Reader's Digest magazine before I grew tired of it. I don't know why, but reading books is tiring these days. That's why I like things with short snippets. I got a Chicken Soup for the Soul Women's Devotional Stories book and have been reading a story out of that each day. Today's was about change and trusting in it and how it brings blessings. When I applied that sort of thinking to smoking, it really helped me out today. I might see about going out and having tea today or something. Maybe invite my friend along.

  15. -16 I just wrote a blog post and it helped a bit.
  16. Day 18, third day on the step 2 patch. I'm craving bad today. I don't know what it is. But I'm home alone and don't know what to do. I'm deep breathing right now, watching Scrubs, and drinking ice water. I went for a walk and felt peaceful during it, with no cravings, but as soon as I got home I got anxious. I figure writing all this down is a good thing and helping to remind myself that I'm not always going to face easy days. One thing I'm doing is reminding myself that if I quit for five years (or more) then I'm taking a trip to Japan as soon as I've saved up for it. I'm even studying Japanese now to learn the language and culture. Though I'm not doing so good on the vocabulary or reading hiragana. I'm getting there, though. Just practice every day, right?
  17. -16 I'm holding on. Don't worry! I've got my ice water right here next to me.
  18. -13 Craves are bad today, but I'm doing alright.

About us

QuitTrain®, a quit smoking support community, was created by former smokers who have a deep desire to help people quit smoking and to help keep those quits intact.  This place should be a safe haven to escape the daily grind and focus on protecting our quits.  We don't believe that there is a "one size fits all" approach when it comes to quitting smoking.  Each of us has our own unique set of circumstances which contributes to how we go about quitting and more importantly, how we keep our quits.
