Thanks Bat, I guess it technically isn't new anymore,(I got it in Aug and took it to SC and Va so has some miles on it now) but it's still new to me and I want to keep it nice for as long as I can.. and short of winning the lottery - even a car port to park it under is not in my budget .

I'm thinking of getting a cover for my car,cuz I don't have a garage - it's the first brand new car I've had in about 25 years and I hope to keep it until my girls take my keys away 25 years from now ;) I only drive it once or twice a week so it's not like I'll be mess'n with it every day..I want it to keep the cats and squirrels from walking on it and birds poop'n on it while it's just sit'n there during the week .. this winter (because I'm so very lazy) I won't have to scrape frost off the widows, or the rare snow "storm" (2 inches is a storm down here) scrape snow off .. in the spring pollen covers EVERYTHING an then it rains an turns it into a green soupy mess.. in summer I'm thinking the cover would help keep the paint from fading and help keep it cooler inside the car without the sun beating thru the windows, and when we have t-storms the cover would protect it from the pine cones and small branches that get knocked out of the trees.. .. I've talked to some of the men folk in the family and they're pretty much split, half say it's a good investment (about $100) and the other half say because of all the fine sand we have around here it will get up under the cover and scratch the paint.. Sooooo your thoughts??

"...my days feel so long.." this is very normal... one thing we didn't seem to realize when we were smokers is just how much of our time smoking took up.. all that time just wasted.. literally went up in smoke.. we only have this one life, now that we're non smokers we have to find things we enjoy with all this 'newfound' time.. what are you interested in?.. is there the preverbal "thing" that you always wanted to learn?..wanted to try? wished you could do, but never had time? for me - I've discovered (accidentally while helping my dad) I have a bit of a knack for making things out of wood.. I've built a tv table/cabinet for my tv and a nightstand for my bedroom.. this could become an expensive hobby LOL.. so I'm going to look into getting some balsa wood and maybe build a dollhouse for my step granddaughter.. if it turns out ok she'll get it - if not at least I tried and I'll move on to something else.. my point is now that you're a non smoker it's the perfect time to spread your wings (so to speak).. you have the time and you have the money you used to spend on smoking...nows the time to grow-learn-do-experience...new things, you might be surprised to find you have a hidden talent.. I have a friend who (quit drinking) discovered she had a knack for cake decorating - she's got her own business now...ya never know till you try :D

Wonderful news Tiffanny!!! I'm soooo happy for you!!!! Welcome aboard the Quit Train.. next stop- lifelong freedom! :D

Hi Bellerophon..How are you today?? Doing good I hope. yep, I can relate to the outside time.. for me it was "my time"- watch the birds and squirrels and just "be"... I still have that, but I switched out ciggs for Red Hots in the begaining.. just sit out there eat'n one of those little sweet/hot candies at a time .. it helped with the "hand to mouth" aspect in the early days, and I didn't feel like I was missing out on "my time"... I even told my husband once (only had to tell him that one time) "let me alone out here with my Red Hots or go buy me ciggs - your choice"... now he knows when I wonder outside or just go sit on the back step, it's for me.. not cuz I need a nicotine fix - but just cuz I want that solitude- enjoy the nature ... theres nothing wrong with "me time".. if it helps you, keep doing it - (just without the cigg of course :) )

How ya do'n today Nat?.. all good - hanging in there, yes?

.."sometimes it just doesn't seem possible to remain smoke free for a lifetime"......Jess, sweetie it's not a life time - it's today -- we don't smoke today..thats what we have to do, not smoke today... then "today" becomes yesterday.... it's our yesterdays that we didn't smoke that add up to 6 months quit - a year quit etc.. .. we can't re-do anything we did yesterday.. .today is what is important... today we protect our quit... so that tomorrow we can say.. " Yesterday I didn't smoke - today I will do the same" it's just one cigg, it's just one crave, it's today that we don't give in... do that and time itself adds up to take care of the rest :)

Bakon, sorry things are a bit overwhelming... sounds like you are a good husband whos trying to juggle everything all at once.. have you thought that maybe you're doing to much?..I'm serious.. sometimes those around us just want us to just be with them, watch a movie, cuddle, look at old photos, whatever feels like 'sharing time' to them... and, believe it or not we also need time of our own, theres nothing selfish in that - take some "Bakon time", recharge and come back more focused and energized ...somethings have to be done like the others have said - laundry- dish's-bathroom, but the other stuff (and really in the scheme of things, thats all it really is 'stuff' ) can wait,.... I'll bet you Mrs. B would be perfectly ok with a few fingerprints here and there if it meant you were less frustrated an more in the mood to enjoy the season with her....one way to find out.. ask her, see whats important to her, do that,.. leave the rest of the "stuff" for another day..

Aw, Sarah, sorry things didn't work out, having said that, good for you waiting to find Mr. Right and not rushing in/settling like I did - not with one marriage but 2 before I found mr.Right in hubby # 3 (but then we know I'm not the sharpest knife in the drawer LOL!).. good for you that you are waiting to find the right man for you... I admire that.

Thanks you guys,.. I'm gonna split it down the middle - stay in my jammies and have hubby get the lottery ticket... - I left the bird out there for hubby to get rid of - who when he got home last night being sarcastic as ever, asked if Alfred Hitchcock was coming to dinner - the smart ass!! :P
-
hmmmm, well it looks like the general consensus so far is it's bad luck.. maybe I'll (using this as my excuse/reason) just stay in my jammies all day tomorrow and just get out of bed when necessary ^_^
-
Not to be gross, but is it good luck or bad luck when a black bird (maybe it's a crow- not sure) falls dead in your front yard? If it's good luck, I'll get a Lottery ticket tomorrow :good3: .. if it's bad luck, I'll stay home..
