  13. My kids finally came home today after 3 weeks with their mom and they have no idea Daddy doesn't smoke anymore. I want to see how ling it takes before they notice because I have all the time in the world. So things are almost back to normal with the exception that the normal no longer includes me smoking!!. I will just keep taking it hour by hour and day by day... reading the oath pledging one more day of NOPE each day and staying focused. The will figure it out eventually on their own! Thanks again to all for the support and the acceptance a little over a week ago when I joined before my quit date. Very grateful and still Humbled!
  14. I see no reason to smoke on this great Friday - Can't believe it is August already. NOPE for me again today!
  15. Things going well - Thanks for thinking about me! This is a great site for support and as a reminder of why I chose to close the smoking chapter in my life for good. Almost at the end of first week but no temptations at all.. so I guess that is good.
  16. NOPE for me - I will not smoke today either!
  17. Thanks for the support and yes I just got back from the tournament that was at the bar and about 15 or so out of the 20 of us playing were all drinking and smoking like crazy. I am very happy and proud to say that I never even considered having even one puff- NOPE for me!!! I didn't even have a drink I had nothing but water and fun - I drove home smiling!
  18. Ok, so today will be my first challenge and I am looking forward to it. I am going out to play in a corn hole tournament which is bizzarre due to the fact that I am from the NOrth and would rather play horseshoes. Any way it will be the first time out in a bar setting where I may end up having a drink (not sure if it is a trigger but guessing it could be) I am Irish though so can't go cold turkey on 2 things at once HAHA! Anyway I am planning on having just as much fun witout the nasty little bugger anywhere near my lungs. I am closing in on 3 days not smoking but my mind is stronger then ever because of this site and the handy app on my phone I check to follow my progress. Where was technology 7 years ago when I tried this in the past. NOPE! for me even at a bar with a drink in one hand tonight! I will prevail. My update since I still do not know how to get a banner on this thing: 2 days, 16 hours, 30 minutes, 39 seconds, 53 cigarettes not smoked, $12.06 saved and 5 hours, 22 minutes time saved!!
  19. I will certianly join you! NOPE! For me! I just need to find one of the banners and how to get it added - As of this message I am at 2 Days, 8 Hours, 51 Miuntes and 47 cigartettes not smoked Monry Saved $10.69 time saved 4 hours 44 minutes
  20. It's official, I am on the train - today was set to be my quit date but after a few days on this site and the stories and support I got etc.. I surprised myself and started a day early - I couldn't even make it to my own quit date - how ironic! So thanks for the support it really put me in the frame of mind I needed to be in. I know it is a long journey and I will have some tough days ahead of me so I will take it one hour at a time I guess and come here for support if I lose my focus.
  21. I am officially on the train..next stop Health!

  22. I am actually speechless right now which is very rare considering I was born in NY. This is more then I could have imagined for. I have made one other decision and that is that I have chosen not to tell my family about my decision, instead I would prefer for them to just realize it on their own, I feel as if that is a much better reward for me then to imagine any undo pressure from a loved one. I am not sure if that is the best approach or not but I am more then willing to find out.You are all truly inspirational and I look forward to sharing my journey and inspiring others to follow as well. So Thank You!
  23. Thank you, I appreciate that. It may take me a while to figure out how to navigate etc. but I plan to stick around. 5 minutes on here will be better then a 5 minute smoke break. LOL
  24. Hi guys! My name is Tom and I am 39 years old and have been smoking for 25 years. I have 3 amazing children who have been asking my to quit smoking for a while now. They are coming back from vacation next week. I have set my quit date for Sunday morning so that they will never see me smoke again. I am truly humbled by everything I have read on this site and I am finally ready to become a non-smoker. I quit for over 1 year at one point but did so for the wrong reasons. Now my goals are very clear and my desire to be smoke-free is not in question. I hope that it is ok that I am 1 1/2 days away and that I do not offend anyone that I am still a smoker for this moment and yet I am on here sharing my intentions. I just felt like this was the place for that kind of support. I have told my closest friends over the last week that they will no longer have to out up with my bad habit after tomorrow night and they are waiting to see if I can follow through. I know I will and I look forward to sharing ,y 1st hour, week, month and year etc in doing so. Anyway, that is who I am and this is what I have decided to do. I admire all of you and look forward to being where you are soon enough!

About us

QuitTrain®, a quit smoking support community, was created by former smokers who have a deep desire to help people quit smoking and to help keep those quits intact.  This place should be a safe haven to escape the daily grind and focus on protecting our quits.  We don't believe that there is a "one size fits all" approach when it comes to quitting smoking.  Each of us has our own unique set of circumstances which contributes to how we go about quitting and more importantly, how we keep our quits.
