  1. Congratulations Sunshine. You are doing great
  2. Welcome @Marie71 You are doing a great thing in quitting. It will make huge improvements to your life. A lot of great advice has been given in this thread regarding a number of ways to quit. I just have to echo what @Lust4Life posted in reading Allen Carr's "Easyway to Quit Smoking" as it really helped me. Some successful quitters didn't like the book but it helped me and helped a lot of others. Doesn't hurt to seek it out. Also, support on a site like this really helps too. It is great to have you here. You can do this!
  3. You don't hear successful quitters saying they regret quitting smoking. It may have been tough early on but they made their lives far better with time. You do, however, hear people who didn't quit smoking say they regret it when dealing with lung cancer, emphysema, heart disease, erectile dysfunction, infertility, losing fingers and toes (Buerger's Disease) and so many other problems people don't initially associate with smoking, I quit for other reasons, not just health, but I had no clue to the number of serious health issues that were directly related to smoking before I quit. The benefits to quitting are great and the potential horrors of continuing to smoke are great. It's your choice.
  4. Couldn't say it better. Life is far better without fighting a nicotine addiction, regardless of whatever issues you have going on in other aspects of your life. Take the BS of smoking out of your life and your life will get better with time. Think of your life as a smoker and then as a nonsmoker and decide which is better. Most will say being a nonsmoker is better and since you are back, I assume you feel the same way. There is freedom there. Once you make the decision, commit to staying smoke free. As others said, post an SOS if you need to. You can do this.

  16. Hey Kdad, congrats on 6 days quit. Keep the quit and you will not have to go through these early days again, which are the toughest. It does get better with time. No need for luck, just adhere to NOPE. Promise yourself not to take another puff, even if it is a day at a time, and keep making that pledge. You can do this.

About us

QuitTrain®, a quit smoking support community, was created by former smokers who have a deep desire to help people quit smoking and to help keep those quits intact.  This place should be a safe haven to escape the daily grind and focus on protecting our quits.  We don't believe that there is a "one size fits all" approach when it comes to quitting smoking.  Each of us has our own unique set of circumstances which contributes to how we go about quitting and more importantly, how we keep our quits.
