  1. Welcome aboard, @FunkyMonkey These early ups and downs are normal. You are doing a great job in fighting through them. Keep up the great work. Things do get better and quitting smoking is worth the early emotional roller coasters you may go through

  3. Welcome @FunkyMonkey You have gotten a lot of good advice already. I can't give you any advice on NRT's as I was also a cold turkey quitter but I do know that a lot of people successfully quit with NRT's. The main goal, in the end, is that you put smoking and nicotine out of your life forever. It may sound daunting but it is worth it and the journey to a smoke free life can be a rewarding one. A smoke free life is definitely better than having your life revolve around cigarettes You are doing a great thing in quitting smoking. It is great to have you here.
  4. Congratulations Yoda! 11 months smoke free is a huge accomplishment. Hope you celebrate big today. 1 month away from the lido deck.

  7. Congratulations on 9 years smoke free and helping others with their quits too. Great job!
  8. I just feel a lot more freedom not having to plan ahead and often center my life around when and how I could take a smoke break. Those breaks didn't often take long but looking back, I missed out on a lot by ducking out for a smoke or focusing more on trying to fix a crave than enjoying life. I also sometimes declined going certain places because I knew I couldn't smoke there which really sucked. Freedom is something I definitely enjoy now. Another thing, I'm currently going through the typical central North Carolina July weather (mid 90's and high humidity for many days at a time). It is nice no longer having to go out in that just to feed an addiction that was killing me.

  10. ^^ Nice choice with the Bangles and glad this thread is active again. More late 80's Bangles guilty pleasure-ness....

About us

QuitTrain®, a quit smoking support community, was created by former smokers who have a deep desire to help people quit smoking and to help keep those quits intact.  This place should be a safe haven to escape the daily grind and focus on protecting our quits.  We don't believe that there is a "one size fits all" approach when it comes to quitting smoking.  Each of us has our own unique set of circumstances which contributes to how we go about quitting and more importantly, how we keep our quits.
