  3. Welcome back, Pedro, and good call on trying to quit smoking again. It really is something that you can do for good. I am a huge believer in Allan Carr's book and it really changed my overall view of smoking. That being said, I didn't agree with 100% of what he wrote. The biggest thing I personally took from Carr's book was that smoking provided NOTHING of positive value to me. All of it was negative....even that rush or feeling of relief after lighting up after not smoking for a while isn't really a feeling of relief....it is just putting your body, and mind, through more torture as you go through the roller coaster of quitting and relapsing. Regarding the term "willpower" @Doreensfree may have put it best. You are overthinking it. Carr's writings are very useful but at the end, his point is life as a non-smoker is far better. Realize that nothing good comes from smoking and that lighting up will only set you back into the same unhealthy cycle you are going through. Try to focus on the positives of not smoking as it does get better over time.

  6. Nice to see you around, Stew, and good job at getting back to your quit. QSMB shut down somewhat unexpectedly and without any real communication from the owners back in early 2018 I believe. You can, however, go to the Internet Archive Digital Library.....link below... https://archive.org/ ....and type in www.quitsmokingmessageboard.com in the search box (make sure "search archived websites" is selected) and it will give you links to certain times the site was archived over the years. Not all the links work but you can find some old content from QSMB this way. You can also look up older versions of other websites on that site if you are interested. Again, welcome aboard, Stew. Stick around. You can make this your quit for good.

About us

QuitTrain®, a quit smoking support community, was created by former smokers who have a deep desire to help people quit smoking and to help keep those quits intact.  This place should be a safe haven to escape the daily grind and focus on protecting our quits.  We don't believe that there is a "one size fits all" approach when it comes to quitting smoking.  Each of us has our own unique set of circumstances which contributes to how we go about quitting and more importantly, how we keep our quits.
