  1. This is normal, Nikki, but it sounds like you are doing a good job of educating yourself about the nicotine and thinking pro-actively about how to fight through craves. Early on in my quit during my free time, when I wasn't on the boards, I tried to spend as much time as possible at places that I knew I would probably enjoy but knew I couldn't light up at. Also, I tried to reward myself for keeping the quit. These things vary from person to person but definitely make sure to treat yourself well for the great job you are doing by putting smokes behind you. You are doing a fantastic job.
  2. Great profile pic, Linda. I know you don't feel this way now but believe me, you are doing great. When you stick with this quit and look back at these early days, you will be really proud of yourself for fighting through these moments. And yes, your quit gets stronger everytime you fight through these moments. At this stage, your third day, the nicotine has probably physically left your body completely, or is close to doing so. Getting the nicotine out of your system is a really big step to leaving cigarettes behind for good. I know it is tough but you are doing great. Keep up the awesome work.
  3. Congratulations CAquitter! Awesome job!
  4. Congratulations on 7 months smoke free, Gabes!
  5. 不 - NOPE in Chinese, at least according to Google translate
  6. Welcome again, AB. I'm sorry you are still struggling but there is a lot of support here. Keep NOPEing. That's the way you do it.
  7. You are making it through the roughest days, Linda. Do hang tough. You are doing a great thing and we have all been through what you are going through now. Believe us when we say that what you are going through now is temporary and things do get better. Try to read some posts on here people have made talking about improvements they have seen in their lives that resulted from quitting smoking. There are a lot of positives that do come, with time, from quitting. I know it is tough at this stage but try to focus on reasons you want to quit and how much better off you will be as a non-smoker. You are making a tough, but awesome, life change right now. Stay tough and be proud of what you are doing.
  8. Great job, Linda! Keep NOPEing and it will get better. Every time you fight through craves like this and succeed by not smoking, it is a victory and your quit gets stronger.
  9. I'll throw my 20,300 unsmoked cigs in the fire.
  10. Congratulations Kev!
  11. Great job, Wren! Congratulations!
  12. NOPE - never again. Happy Friday, everybody!
  13. Welcome to QuitTrain, Linda. You have made a great decision to quit smoking. You've been given some great advice already. I can say that for me, things really changed when I started trying to focus on the positives to quitting smoking (which you will see that there are many, with time) as opposed to dwelling on the struggles you might have early on. Those struggles are temporary and you do start to feel much better physically and mentally over time. Smoking really does nothing positive for you whatsoever. You may want to check out Allen Carr's book "The Easyway to Quit Smoking." Granted, quitting isn't easy for most people, but that book really changed my outlook on smoking. It really helped me to see that I was gaining nothing positive from smoking. Sazerac posted a link to the book here. I think it might be the first of several parts. I have the paperback version which I found very useful. https://www.quittrain.com/topic/10780-allen-carr-quit-smoking-book-on-youtube/ Please note, the book is geared strictly towards quitting cold turkey but there is a lot of valuable info there, even if you are quitting by another method. Another great thing to keep you going in your quit is distracting yourself. There are a lot of games and socializing threads on this site that have helped many early on in their quit, especially during slow times when temptation may arise. Anyway, welcome to the site. It is good to have you here. Stick with this quit. You will be glad you did.
  14. Welcome to QuitTrain, Jim.
  15. Welcome to the Lido Deck, Fluffy. Congratulations on making it to the year mark. Today is a very special day and I hope you celebrate big!

About us

QuitTrain®, a quit smoking support community, was created by former smokers who have a deep desire to help people quit smoking and to help keep those quits intact.  This place should be a safe haven to escape the daily grind and focus on protecting our quits.  We don't believe that there is a "one size fits all" approach when it comes to quitting smoking.  Each of us has our own unique set of circumstances which contributes to how we go about quitting and more importantly, how we keep our quits.
