  1. A couple of power-ballads from my high school years I know many considered cheesy but I liked
  2. I smoked for roughly 20 years. At first (in college), I felt it was cool but as the years since then passed, I slowly began to realize that I had grown miserable as a smoker and wanted to quit. What was once a social habit had become an anti-social one as I ducked out on so many social situations just to smoke and calm my nicotine addiction. I realized I was missing out so much in life by disappearing to light up. Weirdly enough, the cost (both health-wise and financially) were factors in me wanting to quit but not the main ones. I just felt I was becoming increasing isolated as a smoker in an increasingly non-smoking world. I simply grew to believe that I was wasting my life away by having my life centered around those stupid cancer-sticks. Once I finally quit for good, it really changed my life in an incredible way.
  3. NOPE - Smoking sucks!
  4. Welcome to QuitTrain, Christa. I'm sorry to hear about your stepson. ? You are doing a good thing by quitting smoking, though, and I'm glad you have made it through your first three days. As you know, the early days are the toughest but it does get easier and health scares can really play a reality check in inspiring us to quit for good. Like QSMB, there is a lot of support here that can help you stay quit for good. Keep up the great work with your quit. It is good to have you here.
  5. Congratulations Suz!
  6. Congratulations Deb!
  7. Congratulations Kelly!
  8. Congratulations on 5 years smoke free, BAH! Thanks for the awesome post.
  9. I'm a lefty too.
  10. Welcome, Gatisone. Committing to never taking another puff (or NOPE as it is called here) is the key to a successful quit. Every time you light up the occasional cigarette or cigar reignites your addiction so the occasional smoke can not be an option. Education about nicotine addiction and support can help you make this commitment and both can be found on this site. Read and participate often. There are a lot of people here who would like to help you succeed in putting smoking behind you for good.
  11. NOPE - I don't smoke anymore.

About us

QuitTrain®, a quit smoking support community, was created by former smokers who have a deep desire to help people quit smoking and to help keep those quits intact.  This place should be a safe haven to escape the daily grind and focus on protecting our quits.  We don't believe that there is a "one size fits all" approach when it comes to quitting smoking.  Each of us has our own unique set of circumstances which contributes to how we go about quitting and more importantly, how we keep our quits.
