This should help, especially with the absence of Kris Bryant. The last I heard, Bryant should be back by September but who knows. Monasterio is a marginal minor league prospect but I hope he does well in the Nationals minor leagues. It was just announced that Yu Darvish will be out for the rest of the season. Not a surprise. He wasn't doing well when he was pitching for us either. Hindshight is 20/20 but I really wish we could have re-signed Jake Arrieta.

I'm sorry to hear this, blur. As others have said, education and support can really help you so please stick around and read as much as you can about the addiction. I got to this point as well, where I made many short attempts to quit that failed. I was miserable as a smoker and miserable when I was trying to quit. When you finally quit for good, that misery of fighting with the addiction slowly fades away. You will eventually be really happy you put this crap behind you but it does take time and it can be tough. I quit cold turkey but it took me several attempts to do so. I later found out that quite a few people on these boards successfully quit by using a NRT (nicotine replacement therapy). You may want to talk to your doctor about these if you feel cold turkey isn't an option. (I would advise strongly against vaping or e-cigs though) The important thing is that you don't smoke.

Great job, Blur. Just let us know if you need any help. As everyone here said, education and support help in a huge way. You can get both here. Quitting can be tough but the reward of a life free from nicotine addiction is very much worth it. You are doing a great thing.

So far, so good on the Cole Hamels trade. Heck, he might be the ace of the Cubs staff at this point. A 0.72 ERA in 25 innings is awesome.

Welcome to QuitTrain, Blur. I can relate to what you are saying about having had multiple failed attempts to quit smoking. I had a lot of short quits as well and grew very discouraged. What finally worked for me was joining and getting involved in a quit smoking forum like this one. I received a lot of support as well as knowledge about the addiction. Getting involved in a place like this is also a great way to hold yourself accountable in keeping your quit as well. Allen Carr really helped me but different things work for different people. Reading about others' experiences in quitting can really help give you insight and help you prepare for what you might go through. I don't think I really had a plan. I just read as much as I could about nicotine addiction in order to understand what I was trying to overcome, sought the support of others, and did what I could do to help others in return. A key moment for me was accepting that there really is nothing positive at all that comes from smoking. It is all negative. I was not giving up anything positive at all. I was actually making big steps towards living a better life by leaving smoking behind. Please feel welcome here. Everyone here has gone through what you are currently experiencing and we are here to help.

I know it doesn't feel this way but you are doing great, Linda. What you are going through is normal and, as everyone else has said, things do get much better in time. The first few weeks are the toughest but you are doing a great thing by beating this addiction. Stay tough. Your quit gets stronger when you fight through situations like this and win.
