  1. I would definitely say NO to vaping. I tried that way and it gave me a false sense of security and I think I wound up consuming more nicotine that way. I think I was vaping more than I was smoking and started to feel sick by doing that. The goal is to get nicotine out of your system. Cold turkey is a way that worked for many but, if you want to go with an NRT (Nicotine Replacement Therapy), it would be best to discuss this with a doctor. I definitely would advise against vaping. Support and education are what helped many here. Learning about nicotine addiction and having a support group to help you through tough times can really help. You can find both here.
  2. Welcome aboard, Sailor. Congrats on deciding to quit smoking. It is a great and life-changing decision.
  3. We are all addicts. The longer you go without smoking, the more dormant the addiction becomes. I rarely think about smoking now but the occasional thought does still hit me. It is weak but it is still there. Recognizing that you will always be an addict and that you can never take another puff is the key. You will get to the point where you rarely think about smoking anymore and aren't tempted by it. Some people at this stage, I think, believe they have the addiction beat and think "just one won't hurt." They let their guard down completely and decide to light up. Horrible mistake. That re-ignites the addiction. The key is to stick to NOPE - not one puff ever. That is the only way you beat the addiction.
  4. Yes, you will be strong. You know smoking will not make anything better. Don't light up. You will be happy that you kept the quit. Congrats on a month plus smoke free. You are doing great. Keep the quit.

  13. I'm really sorry to hear this, Joe. Your post reminded me of dogs I had growing up that are no longer with us. I'm sorry you are going through this.

  15. NOPE
  16. Yikes, here are my 21,740 cigarettes. I can't believe I used to do that shit. Life is so much better without cigarettes.
  17. I remember you from QSMB, Foe. I hate that you relapsed. I hope you see that life as a non-smoker was a lot better for you than your recent life as a smoker. Those cigarettes do nothing positive for you at all. I'm glad you are quitting again. Just like at QSMB, stick close to this site and reach out if you are struggling. It is time for you to put cigarettes behind you forever.
  18. Great stuff, Shane. I just started looking at the pics but so far, they look awesome. Quitting smoking really improves your life in ways you never expected.
  19. NOPE - I don't smoke anymore.
  20. Welcome to the lido deck, Ela! Congratulations on 1 year smoke free!

  22. Congratulations!

About us

QuitTrain®, a quit smoking support community, was created by former smokers who have a deep desire to help people quit smoking and to help keep those quits intact.  This place should be a safe haven to escape the daily grind and focus on protecting our quits.  We don't believe that there is a "one size fits all" approach when it comes to quitting smoking.  Each of us has our own unique set of circumstances which contributes to how we go about quitting and more importantly, how we keep our quits.
