  1. Welcome, Catchingup. I have the occasional weak thought of smoking a cigarette but I wouldn't call it an urge - just the occasional small thought about what it would be like to smoke a cigarette again. Then I think about the horrible taste and the horrible feeling of having thrown away a hard fought quit. That's all I need to stay smoke free. Never take another puff.
  2. NOPE!
  3. Hey Leon. Welcome to QuitTrain. We sound similar. I smoked for 20 years and quit at age 39. My longest quit was 44 days, prior to quitting for good. I had multiple short quit attempts like you seem to have done as well. With those similar experiences, I can assure you that quitting is very possible. What helped me in a huge way was joining an online support group and participating as much as possible. Learning about nicotine addiction really helps you understand what you are up against. Also, reach out to the people here anytime you are tempted to light up. The people here will really work with you to try to keep you from smoking. It can be tough at first but quitting smoking is actually a really great thing to do. Try to focus on all of the positives to quitting and remember that the negatives are short lived. There really is nothing positive gained from smoking. It is all negative. Quitting smoking is a really positive and great thing.
  4. NOPE - never again.

  19. I put my last cigarette out at 11:59 AM on the morning of Sunday, November 16, 2014. I have to admit I was quite scared then but wow, NOPE actually works. I find nothing appealing about smoking anymore and hardly ever even think about it. I'm glad I put that crap behind me.

  21. Congratulations Joe!
  22. Great job posting an SOS and not smoking, Parsley. I'm glad you are still smoke free.

About us

QuitTrain®, a quit smoking support community, was created by former smokers who have a deep desire to help people quit smoking and to help keep those quits intact.  This place should be a safe haven to escape the daily grind and focus on protecting our quits.  We don't believe that there is a "one size fits all" approach when it comes to quitting smoking.  Each of us has our own unique set of circumstances which contributes to how we go about quitting and more importantly, how we keep our quits.
