  1. NOPE - Smoking sucks!
  2. Great to hear from you, @Wantsit Congratulations to you on the eve of 1 year of freedom.
  3. Congratulations @abbynormal 10 months smoke free is awesome!
  4. The early weekends were tough for me too because of the extra free time. As old man coffee just said, try to fill your new free time by trying new things. Also, spending time here can also help kill time and keep your mind off the smokes. @HeatherDianne and @Old Man Coffee you are both doing great!
  5. I had quite a few trick or treaters here and we were under a tornado watch. It was both a fun and somewhat eerie Halloween night
  6. It might not feel that way but you are doing great, Heather. You are going through hell week and it can live up to its name. A lot of your feelings are normal. Keep fighting through this as things do get better. Stay smoke free and you will not have to go through these rough first few days again. Keep up the great work.
  7. It is Halloween evening and I have several bags of candy for Trick or Treaters (we usually get a lot in this neighborhood). We are also in a tornado watch and there is a front a couple of hours to the west of here with some very severe storms. Could be an interesting night for the Trick or Treaters.
  8. Welcome to the board, Old Man Coffee. Congratulations on 18 days smoke free. Stick close to this site. There is plenty of support and knowledge you can gain here to stay smoke free. Keep up the great work!
  9. NOPE - Not One Puff Ever. Life is much better leaving the poison of nicotine addiction behind you. Please pledge to not smoke. You will be glad you did.
  10. NOPE - Not One Puff Ever & Happy Halloween!
  11. Congratulations on 3 years smoke free, @Hope2Nope That is a great accomplishment. I hope you do something big to celebrate today.
  12. Welcome aboard, forestgreen, and congratulations on 7 months quit. There is a lot of support and knowledge here so settle in and enjoy this place. It is great to have you here.

  15. That's awesome, Heather. A supportive family is great during a quit and sometimes staying away from things helps as well. Whatever works as long as you don't light up. Keep up the great work. The first few days really are the toughest but things do get much better with time, and life as a non-smoker is definitely worth these early struggles.
  16. Maybe it is seasonal but you will hate yourself for blowing a year plus quit. Smoking a cigarette will do absolutely NOTHING positive for you. Everything that comes with smoking is negative. Don't give in. You've done so well in keeping the quit. These craves or thoughts will still come out from nowhere but smoking is not a solution to anything. Please fight through this. It will get better..
  17. Welcome to QuitTrain, HeatherDianne. Yes, you cannot give into these thoughts. Remember, thoughts and craves are not commands. You can fight through this. Also, you are right about how posting here can help keep you accountable. Talking through what you are experiencing really helps as does reaching out to the people here at times like this. If you are really tempted to light up, please go to the SOS part of the site and the people here will help talk you through it. Starbucks is a great idea. It is really good to reward yourself for staying smoke free early on...although quitting smoking in itself is a huge reward. Sazerac has a great post about the significance of rewards. It is definitely worth reading.
  18. Congratulations @abbynormal

About us

QuitTrain®, a quit smoking support community, was created by former smokers who have a deep desire to help people quit smoking and to help keep those quits intact.  This place should be a safe haven to escape the daily grind and focus on protecting our quits.  We don't believe that there is a "one size fits all" approach when it comes to quitting smoking.  Each of us has our own unique set of circumstances which contributes to how we go about quitting and more importantly, how we keep our quits.
