  1. Not having my life revolve around when I would get my next nicotine fix. It takes a while but you eventually gain peace with not having to continue feeding this addiction. I used to think that smoking calmed my nerves. I realize now that this is a lie. These are strange times we are going through right now with CoVid and I'm pretty sure that if I had not quit, I'd be chainsmoking while following the news to calm down and try to put things in perspective. I now realize that I would just be adding much more physical and mental stress during a time like this if I was still smoking. Even in bad times you realize that life is much better without cigarettes and nicotine in your life

  6. NOPE - I don't smoke anymore.
  7. Keep up the great work and continue to celebrate any milestone you need to. Congratulations. You are doing great!
  8. Congratulations on 4 days smoke free. Unfortunately anxiety is common during the early stages of your quit. Things do get better with time and a smoke free life is worth the early struggles. This sums it up perfectly. This is the addiction trying to drag you back in. As long as you resist and do NOT light up, you are winning. Things will improve but smoking now will just ruin the great job you have done so far.
  9. Congratulations Sunshine! 7 months smoke free is great!
  10. NOPE - I don't smoke anymore.
  11. You're doing great, Guttie! Keep up the awesome work!
  12. Welcome Lordy and congratulations on 12 days smoke free. You are making it through the toughest days but things do get a lot better and life as a non-smoker is worth whatever early struggles you may have. It is good to have you here.

  14. Congratulations on your first week smoke free, Mac! Keep up the awesome work!
  15. Congratulations on 41 hours smoke-free, @Guttie39 In these early days, celebrate each milestone. You may be counting minutes and hours early on (I was) but things to get smoother over time. Temptation was high for most of us early on but you are very capable of fighting through this. It may not feel like it but you are doing a great job. What you are going through is normal for most quitters. Do whatever you have to do as long as you don't light up a cigarette. Keep up the great work and keep the quit.
  16. NOPE - I don't smoke anymore.

  18. NOPE - I don't smoke anymore.
  19. Fight through this, Guttie. Your quit will be stronger once you fight through this.
  20. I'm sorry to hear this but you are doing the right thing reaching out for help. The early stages can be really tough but things really do get better. You have done great making it through 16 hours without a cigarette and lighting up now will only throw away a great start. Cigarettes do not relax you, they only feed your addiction to nicotine. The longer you go without smoking, the better things will get. Do not light up. Fight through this. Things will get better. Craves are not a command and they do not last forever. Fight through this. When you fight through a crave like this and win, your quit becomes much stronger.

About us

QuitTrain®, a quit smoking support community, was created by former smokers who have a deep desire to help people quit smoking and to help keep those quits intact.  This place should be a safe haven to escape the daily grind and focus on protecting our quits.  We don't believe that there is a "one size fits all" approach when it comes to quitting smoking.  Each of us has our own unique set of circumstances which contributes to how we go about quitting and more importantly, how we keep our quits.
