  1. Thats true , it čan go both ways . Thanks for pointing that out . My thought was there too lol but my post was getting long or I just forgot .. darn old agelol. Yup my reason to quit too , how could I forget , but in the beginning my fear was what stopped me from quitting only trying to quit and constantly giving up . When things got real serious then I did it . Thanks for adding to this .
  2. Fear is our worst enemy . It will have us procrastinate , it will have us doubting our ability , it will make us feel we are alone in this and that we can't possibly be strong enough . It will have us thinking things like we canT shame or embarrass ourselves if we don't make it the first try or give us feelings of anxiety . These things are normal thoughts when you think about quitting . Trust me ok we all understand . We don't know how or can we live life without them fifty years making , but I'm here to tell you , you can . Until you are stronger lean on everyone here who have been through and are going through and doing this .all of us had fears all of us started on day one , and personally I think of every day as day one and grateful . It's a new beginning every single morning . Every person here can help you until it gets easier . We are all at different stages of our quits and have experienced things we thought no one else did . We all help each other but you have to take the first step so when you are ready we are too . Read all this support . Quittrain works .

    Second vaccine

This will sound odd but I'm most grateful for masks . They along with handwashing seem to have helped the flu this year . None have been reported where I live . I know I've not had one asthma attack because I have worn them outdoors both last year and this year . Of course being smoke free also helps . My copd exasperations are even less frequent because I've stayed away from colds and the sick in public . People because of covid are told to stay home if sick , please do it all the time It makes a difference . A simple cold in an ordinary person to an immune compromised person can mean death in some cases . Many immune compromised people with primary immune deficiency had to wear masks all the time before treatment was found to treat it with immunoglobulin ( blood plasma ) treatments . They need other peoples antibodies to fight disease and illness and to be front line warriors for them . Covid is a very real threat to everyone and not something to take lightly . I do however understand that right nowvaccines are a choice . I know some do not believe in vaccine for religious reasons or perhaps are allergic to ingredients that can cause anaphylaxis but that is just a small portion of the worlds population . I will continue to wear masks during spring and fall and in crowded places. I am immune compromised myself . I appreciate those who have gotten the vaccine because it protects adults teens , children land others who don't have an immune system like scig patients for example , ( remember David Vetter ) primary immunodeficiency patients or people with lowered immune system due to cancer , autoimmune disorders and a multitude of other diseases . I do have both shots now but we are not sure I'm protected or not . There are not enough studies done yet , but like my dr said some protection is better than none so by you getting your shot if your comfortable and can it helps protect others like those with immunodeficiency and high risk patients just a little bit more . We have got 50 per cent of our poplulation vaccinated . Our numbers of people contracting covid are going down which proves vaccinations , staying home, and taking responsibility works , but hospitalization in icu are still high here . We have to care for the child who has cancer , the teen who has been in a car accident , the son with a gun shot wound , the daughter needing life support from a simple fall , the grandma with heart blockage , grandpa with copd , auntie needing emergency surgery , uncles cousins who may need an emergency room or life saving oxygen . Lives matter beyond covid . Be kind , be considerate , be a good neighbor . Do what you can do . Take part in saving a life , be a smile and a joy , spread love , not covid .
  4. Nope .
  5. Not only trying ( rough day ) but doing . Nope . Free Costs nothing . Smoking on the other hand ... Costs !
  6. lol No idea what day it is anymore , but I'm posting nope . One word I won't forget . Have a good day all .
  7. nope
  8. Missed a few days, but they were all without smoking . Never fear if nope is here . Post , don't smoke . It's nope for me . Hope you all are doing well .
  9. Q When it comes to your quit what type of person do you want to be ? A I wanted to be a happy quitter because all the tries before I was a miserable quitter with a miserable attitude . Q Are you here to dig in and get the job done or is it your first attempt at quitting hoping to get the job done ? Are you here on your umpteenth time trying thinking one of these times it will stick but wondering what you can do differently or feeling your different or are you comfortable with just trying so you can smoke ? A Ya I thought I was different .. way more stress than most . Wrong ! We all have stress and all is valid to you . Are you doing the locomotion ( just doing the motions) for company because you are lonely , or to please others , or for company benefits , better insurance ? A I tried quitting for years to please others . It never pleased others until I realized it wasn't my job to keep people happy. That's their job as it was mine . Change the things you can , not change others to fit the plan . No better benefits will you ever receive for yourself and your family than when you quit . It more than money ! It's something words just can not express . Are you just about at the point of giving up ready to hang up your conductors hat ? A I did many times. Day three multiple times and at a hundred days I almost lost it , then three years in . My worst time for one whole day was at eight years quit . So , 28 years of smoking ... hey ... quitting was way easier than that . Four seasons , just one year and four days in seven years is all I've thought about smoking . Yes year one was hard but it is doable ... there are many who can tell you st on this site . In two years I've not had a moments thought to smoke even in my most stressful days . Will I ? Don't know but I do know I have resources tools education and strength not to . Q What's your thinking . Does your thinking move you forward to the place you want to be or back to going no where sitting on the tracks ? Trains only go off their track at main train stations where the control room people work with the conductors and ground workmen working the switches help them to get on their way safely. A I have back up . A quit site , support and self control . Cigarettes don't control me like they used too . Cravings don't dictate my day or choose my direction . A I came with the attitude of getting the job done . I tried multiple times to please others with no real commitment , I cried every day three when it got hard and to relax eve that anxiety and that hurt I smoked . I resisted success because it was my nature to be a failure . Many of us think we are failures before we even quit . Q Do you come with determination or just a flicker of hope ? Either WILL produce a successful quit because you are every part of this trains crew that can make this a successful journey for you . A I came with hope only the size of an eye of a needle . The smallest of seeds can produce the best fruit , the loveliest flowers or the most magestic tree when it's loved nurtured , fed and cared for . Just grateful for these thoughts and reflections on my quit this morning . I hope you can look at your quit today in a way that's positive and that it will move you to be stronger or to be more grateful or to just press on today and keep the faith in yourself and your quit . Take the train , it's a beautiful trip . Leave your baggage or bring it along , it's up to you but it's only a day trip , tomorrow will take in some different scenery and have a new adventure . Life is good , the world is beautiful without smoking in it . Experience it . You won't regret it . Abby No idea where I should have posted this , hope it's ok here or let me know and I'll learn where things should eventually go lol . Please add any Q and A about your journey you'd like to share . It matters not how long you have quit because each persons ride and experience is unique and I learn as others do something new every day . Sharing is helpful but not necessary . To us all you matter no matter where we are in our journey . It keeps us all riding the rails . If you aren't comfortable posting , that is ok too . Q Anyone have a favorite version of orange blossom special ? A ?

  20. Cool thanks for posting , I'm going to look into this . I need energy and I believe there are safe alternatives that work well . Walking helps preventing many many diseases . I have not had cataract surgery but my sister has . Her response was easy peasy and trust me she can't take a lot so it must have been pretty ok . My son has had serious eye surgeries that made me squirm thinking they'd be painful but again no pain or very minimal and drops and they saved his sight . Oh my friend has catact surgery too k zero problems , grateful she had it . Hope all goes well . See you back here soon . Let us know how it goes . Congrats on your quit .

About us

QuitTrain®, a quit smoking support community, was created by former smokers who have a deep desire to help people quit smoking and to help keep those quits intact.  This place should be a safe haven to escape the daily grind and focus on protecting our quits.  We don't believe that there is a "one size fits all" approach when it comes to quitting smoking.  Each of us has our own unique set of circumstances which contributes to how we go about quitting and more importantly, how we keep our quits.
