  1. Cold turkey work for me too. You know the method that works now you need to work at stopping seeing smoking as your crutch :)
  2. Evelyn. Cold turkey is not always the answer. We support you no matter what. Use this place to be accountable to you, if you stay away, the thoughts of "just one" "no~one will know" will linger. Plus there is nothing wrong with shouting out each day. It is a massive achievement.
  3. I can't wait for this weekend to put our up. Love this time of year ;) Look forward to the pictures. Will post some at one point.
  4. I hope today is a better day for you Tiffany?! Be proud. You got through yesterday :)
  5. I was definitely scared of both. Smoking was me. I hated it most of the time. But there were times it felt like it was the rule to smoke. I could never cope completely without it. I tried and failed so many times. Confidence that I could break free was at an all time low. Of course I now know that I don't have to smoke. There really is nothing to be scared of. You just have to mean it. Things change by their selves in time. Normality does resume. The only thing I really look back on now, is why did it take me so long to get it. The control was mine. No need to be scared ;)
  6. Brilliant well done :)
  7. Congratulations ;)

  11. Welcome Andrew, take a sports bottle filled with cold water everywhere you go, it really helps. Running or jumping jacks helped me too! You can do this, stick close to here.
  12. Well done Gina :)
  13. Welcome Gina, this is definitely your sticky quit! Stay close these guys will not see you fall :)
  14. Happy birthday Saz, you are such a gentle soul. Glad I have crossed paths :)
  15. Congratulations Boo!!! :)
  16. Well done Marlene. You are doing great :)
  17. Welcome aboard Marlene, I quit cold turkey, I couldn't do it any other way. But we are all different. The main goal is to make it through each day, so day 1 is nearly at a close, onward to day 2!!
  18. We all hear what you are saying. Sit tight, it does get better. Life is so much better smoke free ;)
  19. Happy 19th wedding anniversary to you both :)
  20. Evelyn we all want to see you do this and to be honest with you, it's not that I have given up supporting you, but I'm at a lost for what to say to you now. You have to mean NOPE!! To get through this, I couldn't care a less whether you shout at me just shout at me and don't smoke :P Let's get this done :)
  21. Hopefully that should be enough, I agree with Boo, that things are very different now with kids and smoking. It does still happen. But e-cigarettes are more appealing for the youngsters these days.
  22. Thank you guys, sorry I don't post some much anymore. This is taking over my free time now. But I do still read and look in from afar. You guy are all awesome by the way ;)
  23. When I quit smoking in 2014 I would have never thought that I could run for a minute nevermind 60 mins! To be honest when I started the 5k program I couldn't run for a minute, well, no that's not quite right. I did run for 8 mins in 1 minute intro's, but it killed me. I was so unfit! Anyway, I have finished the 5k program. I have managed to run 5k in sub 30 minutes. So my next target will be 10k. I am still pinching myself that I'm doing this, and that you can change your fitness that quickly. So far my furthest run is 7.5k in 51.5 minutes it may not be the quickest but I keep looking at my app. I have run 33k this month, since the first of September. 14.5 was run this week and all this been done in 4 1/2 months. The reason for this post is to hopefully show people that you can change your life for the better, quitting smoking can just be the start. Go on give it ago! What do you have to lose.
  24. It will be a lovely new life too!! Doingitthistime. Read, read and read some more on this addiction. Even though so far you seem to be in the right zone ;)
  25. An Elastic band on your wrist. If you get thoughts about smoking pin it, it would some snap me out of it :)

About us

QuitTrain®, a quit smoking support community, was created by former smokers who have a deep desire to help people quit smoking and to help keep those quits intact.  This place should be a safe haven to escape the daily grind and focus on protecting our quits.  We don't believe that there is a "one size fits all" approach when it comes to quitting smoking.  Each of us has our own unique set of circumstances which contributes to how we go about quitting and more importantly, how we keep our quits.
