  1. Unfortunately much later than that Evelyn! More like 12pm :( Although some people from here might join a little earlier, I'm not sure!
  2. So sorry Laura... But of course, we are here for you no matter what! It pains me to read that you were still craving for nicotine, even after you had quit. Somehow we need to get you to change your thinking so that this 'I didn't want to spend the holiday craving a cigarette'... to this 'I can't wait to go on holiday and enjoy it with the freedom of not smoking!'. I know it's easier said than done, but you must try again - if you feel that you need to wait to the weekend, then wait until the weekend, but you must have a plan, and not back out on it. If you have your last one Friday night, then promise yourself that you will come here first thing Saturday morning and pledge NOPE. Then stick around and pledge NOPE on Sunday, and just take it a day at a time. No matter how bad you are feeling right now, I can assure you that you CAN Do this! Honestly, if I can, then you can! We've got your back, but only if you will let us :)
  3. Thanks for the reminder mammy. My story is in my blog - http://www.quittrain.com/blog/23/entry-165-my-first-cigarette/#commentsStart

  9. You are a very special person Nancy - you really deserve this, and I couldn't be happier for you :) CONGRATULATIONS!
  10. Congratulations, mate :) I'm really proud of you for all you have achieved these last 10 months, and here's looking forward to the next two and that big party you so dearly deserve :) Glad to be able to call you a friend :)
  11. Good for you Rooster. You will notice more and more of these 'wins' as time progresses ;)
  12. No, we are not talking the potentially cool x-men mutations here, but the life threatening, horrible kind. Most of my friends in th UK have probably already seen this, but it really got me thinking - we really were taking a massive chance by smoking, even if we didn't consider that we smoked 'many' each day. Makes me feel like even more of an idiot thinking back when I used to say 'it's OK, I don't smoke that many'. http://youtu.be/kxUleFxpQUo
  13. If I ever see you in there, I'll pop in Sharon :)
  14. This makes me so happy - I am so happy for you Chrys :)

  18. Yay Evelyn! 2 weeks of Freedom!
  19. Hello everyone! I have made a lot of great friends here, and I really do care about them, so naturally I care about their quit and that they keep it. Sadly, I have seen far too many of my friends make the fatal mistake of leaving the board too early. They start off really strong, and they will gradually participate less and less on the board until one day they come back and tell us that they are smoking... And that they feel terrible about it! Please, I know that we are busy people, and that not everyone has the time to spend so much time here, but I am asking you now, please pledge to spend at least your first year participating on the board - your quit will be so much stronger for it, and it will be so worthwhile in the end. I'm sure that others will agree with me here! I pledge for another year so, please, who will join me?
  20. Jackie, Jackie, Jackie... How sad I am to read this :( You know I love you, but I just want to be serious for a second and ask you a question - were any of your stresses reduced when you smoked? Did anything positive come of putting those cigarettes to your mouth, lighting them and inhaling those poisons? What you should do is write down now EXACTLY how you feel on a bit of paper, and keep it in your purse - and take it out in emergencies. And please, Jackie, will you promise to stay close to the board with us? If you stay, and participate here everyday, then you will have a really improved chance of beating this once and for all. (((Jackie)))
  21. No, it's not just you Wendy! Tasha and I and our close friends (also a couple) always have stories to tell of each of our, as we call them, 'spoonerisms'... Bloody hilarious looking back on them, but annoying at the time!
  22. Morning! NOPE!
  23. Aww Wendy... and no SOS :( Still, I've seen this before - when people relapse, and they really struggle to get motivated to quit again. But the good news is, that they DO find the motivation again, even if they don't see it right away. Maybe this clinic on Friday will be the key? I hope so. I am here for you Wendy - please stay with us, and don't give up just yet, we believe in you!
  24. Hello, welcome to QT :)

About us

QuitTrain®, a quit smoking support community, was created by former smokers who have a deep desire to help people quit smoking and to help keep those quits intact.  This place should be a safe haven to escape the daily grind and focus on protecting our quits.  We don't believe that there is a "one size fits all" approach when it comes to quitting smoking.  Each of us has our own unique set of circumstances which contributes to how we go about quitting and more importantly, how we keep our quits.
