  1. Hi Carly, nice to meet you. Sorry to hear that you have struggled in the past, but by joining a support community could change all that. It might still be hard, but it's certainly a lot easier with some like minded people to talk and hangout with. Maybe you can try to use more positive words, and avoid ones like 'hope' and 'try'. Instead, tell yourself that you WILL :) And you already admitted that tomorrow never comes, but have chosen to quit Monday... I agree with what others have and are going to tell you - why not today? Catch yourself by surprise, and just stop now. By this time tomorrow you would have been nicotine freedom a whole day ;) You've already proven you can do it if you put your mind to it - anyone who can go 2 months not smoking can go forever not smoking, I promise. We have all been where you are now, and that's why we are here, to help as best we can. It's a great community here, and I hope you like it and stay and have a successful quit. We will be here for you no matter what :d Please, keep us posted :)
  2. LOL what have you been looking at online mammy?!

  4. Nice to meet you Quita! Jimmy has been there for a lot of us since the very beginning of our quits :D
  5. Hope you are having a great holiday! I will join you, NOPE :)
  6. Yep, you won :) So very proud of you, congratulations
  7. Hi Shaun, sounds like a tough situation you are in right now... I feel for you. The only advice I can offer you here is that you should try to seperate quitting smoking from everything else. No matter what shit comes your way, deal with it without letting it affect your quit. Non-smokers deal with crap stuff sometimes too, and obviously they don't grab a pack of smokes to deal with it... Smoking is your (and every other smoker in the worlds) crutch that we use to 'get by', only it doesn't help at all. Not really. And please don't call yourself a failure or anything. You tried, you had a bad day, you smoked. OK, not the end of the world, let's start again, sooner rather than later. We will be here when you are ready, to support you :)
  8. LOL. Not going to get to watch any tonight as going to the cinema to watch Jurassic Park, followed by Insidious 3 :)
  9. Happy birthday my friend! I hope you have a great day, and hope to hear from you soon. Hip, Hip, Hooray! :dance3:
  10. I am so proud of you Gabby, 1 year is an amazing accomplishment, and you should definitely go out and spoil yourself silly today - look at your ticker, you are rich!! Well done Gabby, I had no doubt about you getting to this milestone
  11. Hello, JK, I think we have met before some time ago! Good to see you, and glad that you are making the choice to stop smoking :) If you have any questions, please just ask!
  12. Sure is. You are probably further than me. No spoilers! ;)
  13. The first 3 seasons are on Amazon Prime. Don't know if it's on normal tv of any other services, but it's about a team of people working for the gouvernmemt in an office in the US (what I imagin working in a council office would be like here). It's got some people you would recognise - that guy from Guardians of the Galaxy / the new Jurassic Park and Rob Lowe. It's pretty straightforward and easy to follow, and just funny. The characters work well together, and the episodes are only about 20 minutes, so it's easy to fit in.
  14. That's awesome Nixter, just sitting out, enjoying the lovely fresh air...! You really are doing great, and I'm sure all your friends and family are really proud of you right now :) Like you say, it does get easier over time, and each time you get past one if those stupid junkie craves, you will be a bit stronger for it. Keep going, and stay close :)
  15. Hey Shaun, nice to meet you. I decided to join an online community after I'd quit... when I felt like I had to do something different than I had tried before! I joined an online community on day 16 of my quit, and never looked back. The reason I am still at this particular place, is because of all the great people, who are now some of my good friends. I had a little break for a few months recently, but now I am back, looking forward to getting back into the swing again :)
  16. Does anyone else watch this fun little office mockumentary? We started recently and are up to about season 4. It's got a lot of heart :)
  17. Yes, get some nice candles and things, they smell so much nicer than stale yucky smoke! I think when the time eventually does come, you will not be tempted to smoke - you have far too much knowledge and experience to get tricked into it. and like you say, there is always NOPE! and us :d
  18. I just spoke to Sue, and she said that she is well, and starting a new job tomorrow. Obviously she is still smoke-free :) She said she has forgotten her password, but I will try to get her to logon and say Hi...! In the meantime, she asked me to say 'Hi' to you all from her with a few 'xxx' s ;)
  19. Yay, happy birthday Nancy, I hope you have a very special day indeed
  20. That's awesome that you NOPE'd from your holiday! NOPE over here, too :)
  21. Yes, all of the above, and where is Lace too...?
  22. Nice to meet you Nixter - and congrats on being a non-smoker :) Quitting smoking and joining this place was literally the smartest thing I have ever done... Before I quit, it was like I was living a half life. So many wonderful things have happened to me because I no longer smoke, and I cannot recommend being smoke free enough :) Please stay close and we will try to help you. Start by taking it one crave at a time and then one day at a time - you can do this! It might feel like a challenge at times, but it is certainly possible, and the benefits are endless :) And good luck with your surgery!
  23. NOPE

About us

QuitTrain®, a quit smoking support community, was created by former smokers who have a deep desire to help people quit smoking and to help keep those quits intact.  This place should be a safe haven to escape the daily grind and focus on protecting our quits.  We don't believe that there is a "one size fits all" approach when it comes to quitting smoking.  Each of us has our own unique set of circumstances which contributes to how we go about quitting and more importantly, how we keep our quits.
