  1. Better than cigarettes So, we all know the long term benefits of quitting smoking - we are no longer buying suicide on instalment plan ;) But I thought it would be fun to see some of the more short term benefits, and it might cheer some of us up if we are feeling a bit blue. So, what did you all buy recently with the money that you would usually have spent on cigarettes? How many days 'smoking money' did it cost, and why is it better than cigarettes?! Big or small, it doesn't matter. I'll start. I bought a royal blue velvet jacket which I will wear to my cousins wedding on Saturday. It cost about 3 weeks smoking money. It is better than cigarettes because it looks good, which makes me feel good. Plus, it's not trying to kill me ;). Smoker-action would never have spent his cigarette money on anything other than cigarettes...

  13. I should think I used to buy them for mates when I was younger, but I wouldn't buy any for anyone again. Never again will cash leave my hands in exchange for a pack of cigarettes.
  14. Sorry your son had a fall... But that's kind of what we do! ;) Really happy that you didn't even think of cigarettes - that is great news!
  15. The only canned seafood I eat is Tuna... And shark. Lol, kidding about the shark!
  16. Was it more seasonal in Germany though? Because our problem is that it is not. We can have an entire summer of rain... :(
  17. I am currently playing Wolfenstein: the New Order :)
  18. Evelyn, you are celebrating one week today. You also already pledged NOPE, so smoking is not an option today. I agree with Chrispy - you need to get busy to take your mind off it. A crave is not a command.
  19. Yeah, I think you definitely live in the wrong country! Still, it's easier to give up smoking when the weather is miserable :p
  20. This is a message for all newbies, guests, and also a reminder to everyone else :) When I look back at the names of the people who quit smoking with me, and see some of the people who are no longer smoke free, or simply disappeared without a trace, it breaks my heart… And I can honestly say that the majority of the members still who are still smoke free are the ones that have posted and interacted a lot, especially at the beginning of their quits. Interaction and accountability with a group of people will help your quit. Paying it forward to newer newbies will help your quit. Making wonderful smoke-free friends will help your quit. If you haven’t done so already, I would suggest getting a quit buddy (be it another newbie, a veteran quitter or whoever will have you :p), who will trade PM’s with you, and possibly exchanging emails or phone numbers in case of an emergency – you never know, that person might just save your quit (or you, theirs). Or, if you are greedy, why not get a few ;) Although we come here to quit smoking, it is entirely possible to make very good friends too; ones that you will possibly have for life, even after this place. And even if this is not the case, everyone could use a friend to help them in the early days of their quit. Have a great day everyone :D Hint, Hint, guests please join :P

About us

QuitTrain®, a quit smoking support community, was created by former smokers who have a deep desire to help people quit smoking and to help keep those quits intact.  This place should be a safe haven to escape the daily grind and focus on protecting our quits.  We don't believe that there is a "one size fits all" approach when it comes to quitting smoking.  Each of us has our own unique set of circumstances which contributes to how we go about quitting and more importantly, how we keep our quits.
