  1. The last time I had a drink was, eight months ago. I don't care for beer or wine. Though, do get a taste for mixed drinks (such as, Long Island Iced Tea) every now & then. Alcohol has never been a part of my or my & my husband's life, so, we don't tend to associate with anyone like that either. Which certainly helps. Of course, I was always a solo smoker. I never cared to smoke around others. I didn't even want to go outside if a neighbor was standing out there. I considered it my private time.
  2. Hi, Slow. I don't always have time to respond to posts, so, I can be a lurker too :) Hope you're enjoying what you're reading, are receiving good support & making friends.
  3. Hello & welcome, Shea. Hope that your quit goes well, you enjoy your time here, find the support you need & make many new friends.
  4. Hello & welcome, Kps. I go back & forth with my quits. They haven't lasted more than a few days. I smoke a couple of packs a month. The thing is, I was a non smoker most of my life. Yet, it seems as difficult to stop as it does for those who have been smoking since they were a kid & having a couple of packs a day. I do hope you enjoy your time here, receive the support you need & make many new friends.
  5. Hi, everyone. Hope you're all well & that 2016 will be your best year yet. Achieving your goals, realizing your dreams & pursuing many adventures. I'm still around. Sometimes I just have an opportunity to read a little.

  6. I haven't visited lately, but, tried this past week. I use Chrome, but, it came up the site wasn't secure. I also tried with Firefox & Explorer, same thing. It looks like that's been corrected. I figured the certificate just needed to be renewed. I wasn't taking any chances, in case, the site had been hacked or something.
  7. Sugar packets & napkins you can score at any fast food place. Straws & condiments too. If you come back with someone else's pants & have no idea whose they are, then, hopefully, a good time was had by all.
  8. Hi, WT. I was passing by & thought I'd peek in. Hope all is well in your little corner of the world.

  9. I've been making online friends for 15 years. Most from other states & countries. No matter what forum/site I join, it's rare to find active members from my area. I thought I'd check here. I'm currently a couple of hours north of San Francisco. Anyone from around here or close by? Do let me know.

Thanks for responding. That would be a bit of a drive.

  10. I've played the Movie title in my pants game. For example, A Walk in the Woods....in My Pants. Depending on the title, some of them could be quite funny. I don't really know Nancy, so, not sure what business (or pleasure) I'd be having in her pants. Is she wearing them? Am I wearing them? Is this a pair built for two? There are many possibilities for this.
  11. My husband & I watched that last Sat. We both like Bill Murray & Melissa McCarthy. I thought it had some humorous & touching moments. You're right about that end speech. We should all be so fortunate that someone says something so uplifting about us.
  12. Maybe if it's a bar of chocolate with bits of bacon in it. That could work. I do prefer dark or semi sweet chocolate. I don't know if those would do better than milk chocolate. One of my favorite salty sweet treats is chocolate covered pretzels.
  13. If that's the case, then, I prefer clams or tacos (or whatever other food euphemism people use) more. Now back to the previous intent Babs had for this thread.
  14. I grew up having sausage more than bacon, so, I tend to make/get that for breakfast more often. Sometimes I do have a taste for bacon. I do like sweet & salty/savory together. I don't think I'd care for chocolate & bacon, though.
  15. I responded to your thread. I also wanted to drop you a note here. May your hurt ease with time. I'm here, if you want to talk.

  16. I'm not sure what your particular loss is. I've lost things of sentimental value. I've lost a home. I've lost pets. I've lost family. I've lost friends. None of it is easy. I can understand wanting to find comfort in a smoke. Don't go there. You've come too far. Sending good thoughts & big hugs. I work from home, so, am online throughout the day. You're welcome to pm, if you need to vent or anything.
  17. Good for you. Day 5. Taking walks are a good overall exercise. If you're near a park or anywhere that's more in nature, I'd suggest walking there. Even if you can't go very far at first. It will still be peaceful & serene.

  19. Hello & welcome, Lila. It's not easy, but, it sounds like you're standing strong. I can't really add anything regarding improvements. I was only smoking the past five years & at most, a pack a week. I was down to half, when I joined a few weeks ago. If there have been changes, they're subtle, because, I haven't noticed anything. Other than, I need to find a new indulgence. Sending good thoughts & big hugs your way.

  22. We're watching one of our favorites, Field of Dreams. Even if you're not a baseball fan (I am), it's still a very good & heartwarming movie.
  23. Hi, Sunny. I saw you had stopped by my page. I thought I'd take a peek at yours. Hope all is well in your little corner of the world.

Hi, Sunny. I thought you had been here awhile. We're both newbies. It's going ok. How is your quit?

      Sunnyside

I not a newbie as such, I have been quit for a year and 5 months now, but I am new to this forum. I quit on another forum but there was issue on there, that's the short story. So a few of us left and made our own forum but it's too quiet as it's new. So have join here, I like helping people. If it wasn't for a forum That I joined I never would have quit.

It is hard mate but completely worth it so I hope you keep pushing yourself, use this place to your advantage, i...

I meant you being new here. I've been part of many different forums the past 15 years, but, this is my first time at one for those quitting smoking. It seems to be an inspirational place.

  24. It's a naval destroyer. There was a pandemic which killed most of the people on earth. It's on Sun at 6p on TNT. My husband & I think it's pretty good.
  25. We're watching a double feature of, Full Metal Jacket & Enemy at the Gates

About us

QuitTrain®, a quit smoking support community, was created by former smokers who have a deep desire to help people quit smoking and to help keep those quits intact.  This place should be a safe haven to escape the daily grind and focus on protecting our quits.  We don't believe that there is a "one size fits all" approach when it comes to quitting smoking.  Each of us has our own unique set of circumstances which contributes to how we go about quitting and more importantly, how we keep our quits.
