  1. Alice's Restaurant. What time is it?
  2. No but Willy Wonka has some gum he needs beta testing. :bb:
  3. If I may make a suggestion or two. I have found that I eat substantially less if cut down on how much TV I watch. If I have unlimited popcorn and watch a [insert favorite series here] marathon I could probably eat my way to critical mass and/or achieve my own gravity well without even realizing it. The more you do the less time you have for mindless eating. You will eat by conscious choice, when your hungry. Also, don't eat alone. Share meals with people. Preferably with somebody who is thinner then you. Anyhow, this helped me. YMMV.
  4. There is actually a limit on how many emotes you can use in one posting. :P
  5. Patches "can" work. It's not that you quit twice but that you break your addiction into pieces and work on them sequentially. The first piece, while using the patch, you break your mental habit for smoking. You're still getting nicotine but your not smoking. Your quit the mental habit. When you stop using the patches you break the physical addiction, which we hope has been softened up by going through the steps of smaller patches over the weeks. You quit the physical habit. I quit using the patches. It was a more expensive and prolonged process then going cold turkey. It was also a more gentle approach then cold turkey. In the end victory needs no excuse. Results are what we are looking for and the only result that matters is prolonged and complete abstinence measured by your remaining days.
  6. ...and now you don't get rid of me that easily. :rtfm: When I started my quit I found that time was my enemy. I fought for each moment to stay nicotine free. :hunter: The moments became day-to-day issues. Then just occasional cravings. Eventually time becomes your friend again. More time in the day to do things other then poison yourself. :paint2: More total time in your life to enjoy (bonus to lifespan). More money (lack of smoking expense) to enjoy the more time you have. :beach: Holy Guacamole; more time AND money!?!? You gets your cake and gets to eat it too?? :yahoo: Moreover your time is of better QUALITY. Can taste and smell better. Less coughing and illnesses. Smoke free means you are a better Lover (you don't smell/taste like an ashtray). :girl_in_love: Now we are at: More time. More money. Better time. Better love. if you need more and better reasons you need a serious and comprehensive reality check. The Quit Train is Happy to see you. :welcome:
  7. If you find yourself in a hole the first thing you should do is stop digging... :help:
  8. Your mired in associations. Instead of wine drink grapefruit juice. That should take you far enough a field that your associations are left behind.
  9. Update: Windy Ridge is still closed due to massive snows. Maybe in another month. Still, it was fun playing in the snow. ;)
  10. We come to realize that not smoking is the reward for not smoking. ;)
  11. Likes for everyone! Viva La Likes!!! :)
  12. There might be a situation where I wouldn't care if I smoked. Finding myself in a Pals regiment on the eve of the Battle of the Somme comes to mind.
  13. When your inner addict is spouting nonsense it's best to surround yourself with non-smoking friends for the necessary reality check. Glad you were able to ignore the nicodemon. Your AWESOME!
  14. Hmmm... If he helped you to stay off the smokes then are you entirely certain that he deserves that honorific?
  15. Each day girds you with more resolve for the next. Over the (very) long haul, it gets easier, though it may be difficult to point to a day and say, "yeah, that one was easy." Time will eventually be your ally.
  16. If it's rainy you might consider going to the mall. Brightly lit, warm, and dry plus a clean, smoke-free environment. Walk, shop, read a magazine with a cup of coffee.
  17. Nothing to see here. Just some random procedure words of some soul on the other side of tomorrow. Discordia Hibernaculum. Quis custodiet ipsos custodes? Space/Time/Matter/Energy = Element/Form/Condition/Power "It's your choice but I would prefer you didn't smoke." You would mortgage your soul for a smoke? One for sorrow, Two for mirth, Three's a wedding, Four's a birth. Five for silver, Six is gold, Seven for a secret never told. Eight for a wish, Nine for a kiss, Ten for a time of joyous bliss. It hurts, embrace the pain. It craves, welcome the desire. It's empty, feel the void. Remember what you care about. Recall what is important. Caricature of the Undead's and the thoughts inside their heads. I am you as you are me and we understand multiplicativity. Breath deep, sleep, dream, hold the ice till it melts. Do not call up that which you cannot put down. You can earn everything but the time you spend. "Look at your hands!"
  18. "A book can teach you, a conversation can assure you, a poem can seduce you, a genius can inspire you but only you can save yourself." -― Anthony Anaxagorou
  19. It's still a bit early. Cold, wet, & windy makes the experience that much more elemental. Mt. St. Helens at the rim of Windy Ridge just South of Spirit Lake. BTW, it's easier to climb the 400+ steps if you don't smoke...just saying.
  20. pack a day habit... 5 days = 100 cigs 50 days = 1,000 cigs 500 days = 10,000 cigs 500 days = 1 year 4 months and 5 days of burning up $3,250 @ $6.50 a pack not to mention the physical damages.
  21. During hell week? Sure. Body had more oxygen and less carbon mono/di-oxides in the blood. Chopping wood till the muscles felt tight, followed by a shower and a short visit with Mister Daniels.

About us

QuitTrain®, a quit smoking support community, was created by former smokers who have a deep desire to help people quit smoking and to help keep those quits intact.  This place should be a safe haven to escape the daily grind and focus on protecting our quits.  We don't believe that there is a "one size fits all" approach when it comes to quitting smoking.  Each of us has our own unique set of circumstances which contributes to how we go about quitting and more importantly, how we keep our quits.
