  1. Congrats Jengels - awesome job - doing great
  2. Soosie - you know I love ya but you really need a serious mind set change here - If you keep telling yourself that you will face triggers -- guess what - you will !! Remember you are a non smoker now - and you know you have the skills and tools not to smoke. Maybe instead of thinking being around smokers- will make you want to smoke - promise yourself you will take the time to really study them - you will see the addict at play - guarantee. While you are watching them remind yourself of how they burnt your throat and how bad they tasted, maybe also take the opportunity to get a whiff of essence of tobacco -- that "lovely" stale smoke smell -- yep pretty sure you would love having that back ... not !! Once you have done that -- ask yourself would you really want to trade your new freedom for that ?? Dont think/ expect to face triggers -- instead know you are going to have wonderful opportunities to reinforce how great your quit is and to understand all the benefits of what you have done -- and let these thoughts fill your mind that that letting the "what-ifs" take up mind space.
  3. Congratulations - six months is fantastic

  6. Gorgeous - and must say Mr Action - glad you have finally decided to join the cat thread !!

  8. Congrats on the engagement Amber - awesome news
  9. Hey Marti - 3 times is the recommended minimum ... Sorry ! Tabata can kill if you do it properly .... When you have time - it is also great to add on at the end of a steady state cardio day - but in the crazy real world - even on its own will give benefits - my trainer made me do it with burpees once - not recommended for the faint hearted ! Edit - oh and if you do the burpee version - maybe a fond farewell kiss for family and friends wouldn't go astray !
  10. Awesome work Sarah - you are a tiger !
  11. Soozie - doing great - you got this !

Congrats Gem- you do realise that our weather and wine is sooo much better here tho !! Seriously - happy you have made a decision - just are sure you provide pictures !
  16. Marti there are lots of good personal training apps that you could use - just put in your goals, what equipment you have and they can come up with some killer workouts. Also - do some investigation into Tabata workouts - I'm on my iPad so too hard o type the full details !! but they are super quick
  17. Most of the ladies with long hair at my gym usually pull their hair up into a bun for lunchtime classes - less contact that way with sweaty necks etc - one of them even plaits it first and swear it makes for great waves hair after. After the class - lots don't wash their hair but do use the hair dryers in the gym to clean up some of the sweat after. You might also want to think about dry shampoos ?? Me - I solved the problem by going for short hair - but that might be a bit drastic !
  18. Have a great time Tracey - we will miss you !!

  23. Amy - happy to see you back but sorry you smoked. Some times it takes a while for our brains to realise that we don't smoke and during that time it can feel over whelming but like the others have said if that is the case - take it a day, hour, minute at a time - only rule is don't smoke. You can do this - and while you are adjusting to life as a non smoker - remember we are all here to support you ?
  24. Huge congratulations - one year is awesome
  25. Awesome work Mis Lace - always knew you could do it ..... Super congratulations with chocolate frosting on top !!

About us

QuitTrain®, a quit smoking support community, was created by former smokers who have a deep desire to help people quit smoking and to help keep those quits intact.  This place should be a safe haven to escape the daily grind and focus on protecting our quits.  We don't believe that there is a "one size fits all" approach when it comes to quitting smoking.  Each of us has our own unique set of circumstances which contributes to how we go about quitting and more importantly, how we keep our quits.
