  1. Yesterday heavy leg weights with my trainer and today I did a small group class - lots of shuttle runs with high intensity exercise ... Burpees etc .....I think I no longer have feeling in my legs at the minute and loving it !!!
  2. Congratulations- you did great and to take away a win must be icing on the cake :-). Although I still find it hard to believe people can still smoke inside anywhere - everything is smoke free here !
  3. Awesome post Marti- and think of what a great role model you are now for your kids ...so happy for you and them :-). And maybe next time you could include a potential to make people snort out loud at work spoiler ....BEFORE including the ninja comments ??
  4. Awesome work - congrats on a super 7 months :-)
  5. I'm loving looking at an awesome non smoker ... Go you :-)

    Snow

Right - that is just rubbing it in !! Coming into winter here and we are already whining about the cold .... I mean yesterday it was 16 Celsius !!
  7. If their quit is like mine - that certainly wouldn't be the case ... Just say'n .... Sorry if that is too much info :-)
  8. Yay Gabby so happy for you and so proud in equal measures ... You certainly are a clever girl xx
  9. Hey RC - welcome aboard :-) I agree read up - there is heaps of great info here and stay close - there is great support here ... Looking forward to reading more of you :-)
  10. Yep - I was certain I could quit when I wanted ... And I was going to do it by the time I was 30, no maybe 35, make that 40 .... Well at least I turned 50 smoke free .... I was only 18 years later than planned !!

Hey Jess - stay strong this to will pass ... You can do this ! Get on with enjoying that wonderful smoke free life and know we are all cheering you on ! xx
  12. There are hugs, cookies and wine here ?? How come no one told me to come here earlier - I thought you were all my friends ??
  13. Oh sweetie - so,sorry you are having a hard time ! But yep you nailed it - smoking will not make any of these go away ! You have faced down some amazing challenges in that quit of yours and what I have admired- is how well you have done it ! Exercising, mediatation and even crying are all good .... Smoking not ... And you are consistently making the right choice :-). Hang tough and know that we are all here for support .... We love what you are doing xx
  14. Babs rest days are good - you need to give your body time to heal .... Only prob is when there are more rest days than exercise days - and I can't see that happening with you .... Just say'n ! :-) Friday here - so got to the gym and did some elliptical and treadmill ... Am now welcoming the weekend with a well earned glass of wine :-)
  15. Hi Rocki - congrats on a fabulous 2 months - if the chocolates are helping you stay quit then I wouldn't stress too much about that at the moment .... Concentrate on nurturing this quit first and then you have already proved yourself strong enough to deal with the chocs xx
  16. HeyDF - late again! Season changes are a big trigger - the addiction tried to fool you that you can't enjoy summer smoke free - but trust me - summer is even better smoke free- you don't have to interrupt fun times for a smoke ! It is normal to occasionally think about smoking this far down your quit ... The trick is to recognise the thought and let go ! Stay strong and treasure that beautiful quit xx
  17. Hi Toni- so sorry you were having a hard time and hope you are feeling better. Quitting is tough at first but it does get better and take comfort - although some of us still had bad days along the way - a bad day doesn't make a bad quit ! Hang tough - you can do this - and remember we are here for support xx
  18. 1. I struggled quite a bit months 3 and 4, initially I was excited but by then I was over it ! 2. Not really sure - all of the months had good bits - but probably 6 and 12 months were major milestones for me- I had always planned to celebrate these months so that made it special 3. No foods gave me smoking thoughts but I lived on licorice as my crutch early in my quit 4. I experienced craves and was short tempered early on ( as hubby can attest) but no real anxiety - although my tantrums may have made others anxious ! 5. Still losing them - but I quit and entered menopause at the same time - plus did I mention that I also established licorice as a food group ?? So it is not surprising I put on some pounds :-) 6. I have always been a terrible sleeper - so I can't blame quitting for that- although this board became a great distraction for my insomnia .... And it actually meant people were online at the same time as me for a change ! 7. I'm still vigilant but I made a commitment to myself from day 1 that I would never go though this again ... So I guess month 1 8. I basically lived on the quit board early in my quit - reading, playing games, posting pictures of cats ! When I wasn't online I visits my other home - the gym ...... Distraction, distraction, distraction :-) 9. No depression thankfully 10. Staying active here makes me accountable ... How could I possibly let people down by smoking - plus I like to think I can help others along the way 11. I didn't have smoking dreams 12. I love travelling - so being smoke free makes that easy, plus not having to go outside in the heat / cold, also my health has improved ... The benefits are too many to list :-)
  19. Boxing with my trainer and some intervals on the cross trainer at lunchtime ... Backing up with a game of basketball tonight ... Although I expect I will try to hide on the bench as long as possible ...gotta love having subs for a change ! :-)
  20. "Played " with the new cross trainer they are trialling abt the gym ... Evil but fun - and then super heavy weights session with my trainer .... Feeling it now !
  21. I am sure you will do great a- exercising is so much easier now :-). Hope you find a running pal - unfortunately I think I am a little too far away :-)

About us

QuitTrain®, a quit smoking support community, was created by former smokers who have a deep desire to help people quit smoking and to help keep those quits intact.  This place should be a safe haven to escape the daily grind and focus on protecting our quits.  We don't believe that there is a "one size fits all" approach when it comes to quitting smoking.  Each of us has our own unique set of circumstances which contributes to how we go about quitting and more importantly, how we keep our quits.
