Hi Natalie,
I don't have answers to all your questions, as my quit is fairly new.
I can tell you that it really doesn't have to be hard to quit.
Have you read Alan Carr's book yet? The Easy Way to Quit Smoking? I can't remember whether you said you
had read it or not.
I have read it more than once. I have quit smoking more than once. This time was different because I FINALLY
realized that smoking does nothing for us. Not. one. single. thing. Except relieve us of withdrawal from the last one we smoked.
Once I understood this, it made quitting soooo much easier. Oh I had a few uncomfortable moments, but that's about it.
Instead of "craving" a cigarette, I have thoughts of smoking. I smoked for so many years, there are bound to be memories.
I dismiss them, tell myself that I no longer am a slave to nicotine, and carry on.
I found that keeping busy the first few days was a real benefit. Made the time fly. I read everything I could here on this site and on whyquit.com
I read Alan Carr's book again. I also forced myself to get outside and walk my dogs, whether I felt like it or not. By the time I finished walking I felt better.
Keep posting here. There are no silly questions. There is a lot of knowledge here, so keep asking.
You can do this :)
