  1. I was always afraid to stop smoking and figured I'd die a smoker. Then when I did quit, I was afraid of relapse! NO FEAR this time, one day at a time :)
  2. oh my, who knew quit smoking forums could be so ummm funny? You guys are killin' me here!
  3. She didn't exactly say why they wouldn't recommend more than 6 months - but I don't intend to be on them that long anyway so didn't bother asking her why. I'm thinking, for me, a few more weeks at the 1/2 pill I'm taking now, and I'll be done. I just don't like taking meds any longer than necessary.
  4. NOPE for me :)
  5. Great post and so very true! My journey is on-going, and that's ok :)
  6. ONLY More Days!!
  7. Congratulations Sue on your 1 year Anniversary! Thanks for being here for all of us :)
  8. I'm not really noticing any side effects from the Chantix, so another week surely won't make a difference. I do have extra left over, for as you said, "safety net". And who knows, the smoking thoughts just very well could be self induced, lol. So guess I'll just hang in here on this dose for a while longer. I'm feeling great with this quit, no need to take chances :)
  9. Marti! I bet your kids are so freaking excited! And you don't have to worry about sneaking a smoke before each flight. So many positives that you've already mentioned. It sounds like a fantastic holiday :)
  10. Thank You!
  11. Thanks Chrys I do think I had a few more smoking "thoughts" this week than at any other time and was thinking it was due to cutting down the Chantix.
  12. For anyone that's used Chantix. How long did you continue to take it after you had quit? Did you taper the dosage down or just quit taking it? I have tapered my dose down to .5 mg (1/2 pill) per day for the past week and just really want to be done with it. The only answer my Dr (actually PA) had is that they don't recommend taking it longer than 6 months. I swear, even pulmonary doctors are clueless when it comes to quitting smoking. You would think that they would be more informed, since they are dealing with people's LUNGS?
  13. ha ha awesome!
  14. Only 1 more to go!
  15. Yay you! You've got that first month down :)
  16. NOPE Not one puff!
  17. hmmm..can't imagine why
  18. Oh Jeffrey, you are singing my quit song! I struggled with anger for a while too. My poor husband deserves a medal, lol! It gets better and now you know how to handle it. You're doing great :)
  19. Feels like summer again :)

About us

QuitTrain®, a quit smoking support community, was created by former smokers who have a deep desire to help people quit smoking and to help keep those quits intact.  This place should be a safe haven to escape the daily grind and focus on protecting our quits.  We don't believe that there is a "one size fits all" approach when it comes to quitting smoking.  Each of us has our own unique set of circumstances which contributes to how we go about quitting and more importantly, how we keep our quits.
