  1. OH SO TRUE!!!! NONE of us, should misunderstand the "false sense of security" we get!!!! Once an addict, ALWAYS an addict!!!! and that's it!!! I STILL kick myself for the 1st 'relapse' after being "clean" for a year and half! (or more.. don't remember exactly!) There were no 'cravings' that I recall... plus, in those days, I smoked EVERYWHERE!!! (except bed!) Thank God, I'd moved during that glorious time, so at least when I did "start" (mental note to hit myself!!!) it was only on the balcony... but still!!! and for MONTHS I "had it under control"... (reminds me of my little brother GRHS, and his heroine addiction) anyway, it got worse and worse, till I practically LIVED on the balcony at times! Have quit, like you Chrys, MANY times between then and now, but this has lasted the longest (since my 1st, I mean!!!) but I'm NOT being lulled into that FALSE sense of security!!! oh no!!! My point being, smoking, heroine, crack, booze, whatever the addiction, it's STILL AN ADDICTION!!!! "My name's Ria and I'm an addict" Love and peace to you ALL!!! xox xox xox
  2. What an amazing 'writer' you are, Chrys!!! and if I could have "liked" this a 100 times, I would! lol! Strangely, prior to seeing this thread, I read MQ's blog? about being "in love" with a narcissist... so VERY pertinent!!!
  3. WOWEEE! Leanna! you look STUNNINGLY BEAUTIFUL!!! Through your eyes I can see your soul, which is amazing! Our 'outers' are just that! but 75lbs is HUGE!!! I bet you feel wonderful!!! So sorry about the PCOS  but your positive outlook is inspiring!!! WELL DONE!!!

I'm weird! keep having to look at my 'financial' calendar, here in the study and count! OMG!! it was 6 WEEKS last Saturday!!!! How come it feels like 6 months?? (in some ways)
  6. N.O.P.E!!!!!!!!!!!!! NOPE NOPE NOPE NOPE!!

HUGE Congratulations on your engagement, albeit late... and the wedding (in advance)... Pleased to 'meet' you! xox
  8. Where did I read that we were NON smokers every time we stubbed one out?...? Anyway, during the night, or illness when in bed, or inside, there's NO physical pain... so YOU'VE GOT THIS, Michelle!!! and as is the common consensus, "we only have today"!!! one day at a time!! "My name is Ria, and I'm an addict"... :lol2: :lol22: :girl_wink: (I do so love that sentence)
  9. N.O.P.E!!!!!!!!!!!!! NOPE NOPE NOPE NOPE!!!!! NOT today!!!!! one day at a time!

  15. Just to 'explain' my previous post...... A few months ago, I woke at 3am... (wont go in to the whys and wherefores) and hadn't smoked for a day or two prior, so didn't have any cigis, thinking the night before, "I'll wait till I wake"... Coles/Woolies etc open at 6am... There is a Coles a bit further away, nearer the city, opens at midnight, but I didn't have a lot of PETROL... Anyway... the ADDICTION was SO bad, I couldn't stop pacing!!! yes! PACING! so threw on some clothes and drove to the 24/7 service station not far away, and paid $29.75 for a packet of cigis that would have cost $24.50 at Coles IF I waited! How STUPID is that???? Why didn't I reach for my puffer? why didn't I just go back to bed? But no!! I AM AN ADDICT!!! Thank GOD I'm free!!! I fought that addiction... didn't happen straight away! but like you, I was DETERMINED this time... My point? that morning, I would have paid double the price! and gone without something else.. probably food again! (hope this isn't in the wrong thread... )
  16. Actually, I don't agree with that... I believe that "big brother" doesn't have the right to tell anyone what 'poison' to ingest... It's not stopping 'addicts'... (if I add up the amount I've spent on cigis in the past 7 years, I could have bought a brand new car +) it's just ensuring they 'go without necessities! or their kids/family do! No, government taxing is hypocritical!!! If they REALLY wanted to do the 'right thing'... they'd close down tobacconists and anyone else selling them!! Just my opinion!
  17. Tina!!! a vapourizer is NOT a cigi!!!! I've got one of those... NO NICOTINE, and it's purrfick for times such as you've described!!! JUST the "wish I smoked" times... which I can assure you, get less and less!!!! Mine's Menthol, which was pushed aside after I "started the disgusting smelly fags" again, with that "just one" idiotic thing! Now, it's there IF I need the 'urge' to inhale on something... but don't fret over a puffer!!! that's NOT smoking!!! How CAN it be??? One of my flavours is Lemon Meringue Pie and it's GORGEOUS!!!! LOL!
  18. "I'm 1 puff away from a pack-a-day habit.. (Stealing that quote from someone...)" Well said, Joe!!! I like that thought!!! and Welcome Super!!! and as Marti says, "one day at a time" is all we HAVE... yesterday has gone, never to return or re-live/change whatever... NO ONE has tomorrow until it's here... we only have today! right NOW in fact! Not even tonight.. we have NO IDEA how we'll feel "later".... all we DO know is "NOPE"... Not One Puff, Ever! ;) You've already "done" it by joining these AMAZING people's ride!! xox
  19. N.O.P.E!!!!!!!!!!!!! NOPE NOPE NOPE NOPE!!!!
  20. OH NO!!! Your hubby must feel AWFUL!!! I can relate to this also! I too quit for well over a year, after reading Alan Carr's book... and was 'home and hosed'!! had even TRIED to smoke my friend's and thought yuk!!! But then the "mental" thing (THE MAIN ADDICTION) hit like a tornado, and I wasn't following the "NOT ONE PUFF, EVER" rule, and bang!! that was it!!! sneakily, (yes, hiding) I managed to endure another 8 or so years (on and off) mostly on, the offs were no more than a few days, or couple of weeks.... easy to start, but MURDER to hang on to!! and HATING MYSELF for ever starting again! I even believed that when I was "serious" I could do it... and of course, I could! for a few days... but then the 'niggle' would return and the justifications POSSESSED me... (like the devil) and I'd start with "one or two with my coffee in the morning" etc etc ... I'm sure we've all been there!! WELL DONE TINA!! I have a sneaky feeling that you're going strong and will SUCCEED!!! Sorry if I've waffled... :(
  21. Hello again, Tina xox "he/she who worries too soon, worries too much"... try NOT to worry or even imagine the future.. tonight, tomorrow etc will arrive in it's own good time, with or without our concern, y'know? I also quit mostly for the money, but also, like you, the "secrecy" of it all!!! After my major Quit 10 years ago, hardly anyone KNEW that I smoked.. I lied to and sneaked around family to smoke.. so I ROOLY understand! and ADMIRE your strength!! This site is great for "letting it all out" good or bad.... a week coming up!!! YAYYYY!!
  22. N.O.P.E!!!!!!!!!!!!! NOPE NOPE NOPE NOPE!!!!

About us

QuitTrain®, a quit smoking support community, was created by former smokers who have a deep desire to help people quit smoking and to help keep those quits intact.  This place should be a safe haven to escape the daily grind and focus on protecting our quits.  We don't believe that there is a "one size fits all" approach when it comes to quitting smoking.  Each of us has our own unique set of circumstances which contributes to how we go about quitting and more importantly, how we keep our quits.
