  1. A horse walks into a bar and the barman says .... .... .... Why the long face?
  2. Great work! Congratulations
  3. 11 months. Great work!
  4. I'm with Porky on this one. Nutcase! But, if it is what you want, which it clearly is...Go Gemzee!
  5. Glad you are feeling better today Jules! Nice ticker! Good work out of you.
  6. Congratulations! Good work.

  8. 7 days. Deadly.
  9. NOPE for me too. Hold tight Laura. You can do this.
  10. Vaping...I think that all of the points above have merit. I believe lots is not known about Vaping and regulation is light. Obviously no company would try to profit by selling stuff that was addictive if there was any risk that it might harm you.. .oh wait. I am not a virulent anti-vaper, but my concern is that those people that use it instead of quitting rather than as a part of a quitting process are reinforcing the idea that self administering nicotine is in some way pleasurable. It is only pleasurable in so far as it relieves the withdrawal symptom that it creates. Stop doing it, and there will be no withdrawal and therefore no pleasure in doing it again. I understand that people have found Vaping an effective tool in quitting smoking. Fair play to them. Good work. If a youngster close to you (family, friend) whatever, came home from school and announced. "Hey. I'm Vaping now. A bottle a week. It's great." Would you be happy? I think that I would be unhappy. An addictive substance + marketing is, to me, slavery. The addict becomes completely reliant on the seller. It may be that the companies that own the Vaping companies are benevolent, only interested in making a fair profit for a harmless product. But given that increasingly these companies are companies that remain engaged in selling cigarettes, it would be my suspicion that the leopard has not changed its spots, and that the profit motive trumps all. Nicotine kills weeds. But apparently, sucking it in as a vapour multiple times a day for years does no harm. Right.
  11. Morning Jules! Congratulations on 20 days. Yep. It gets easier and easier. Of course, you can have just one. It just makes life so much better. You stink again, you feel like you have let yourself down and of course you have the joys of the first few days withdrawal symptoms again. Hmmmm... Jules, there is no 'one' and if there was, why would you want it? You are doing great, make sure you get yourself something cool to reward yourself. Tomorrow it will be 3 weeks!
  12. And the rest is.... History

  15. Good post comrade. Thanks for making the time. One hell of a ride over the last month or 2! Hang tough.
  16. Great work T!
  17. For me - 1. I am an addict 2. Rational consideration allows only one conclusion. Smoking kills. 3. I Quit 4. Drinking CAN undermine rational consideration 5. Being a little careful with drinking ensured rational consideration won 6. I am still quit Laura - you had a practice quit. It happens. Reading your last post made me think that you are self-aware enough to realise that it wasn't just the drink that led you to smoke. Maybe I am reading too much into your words - if so, I apologise. The truth is relapse is ALWAYS a choice. It is ALWAYS a deliberate act. The beer/wine/vodka did not put a smoke in your mouth and light it. Your addiction tells you that you are "giving something up". You are not. Cigarettes were crap, are crap and always will be crap. Only when you believe that - go get drunk. Until then be careful. Get back on the train Laura - there is no shame on making a boo-boo, only in quitting on quitting. You can absolutely do this.
  18. Hey Happy BD MQ. thanks for everything
  19. Nice work Comrade. congrats.
  20. Congratulations on 10 months Joe! Fantastic work.
  21. Hey Aine. Brute force and ignorance time. When all rationalisation fails, the only thing that works for me is being a hard headed mule. (Fortunately this is playing to a strength!) You ain't gonna smoke, so no point craving.

About us

QuitTrain®, a quit smoking support community, was created by former smokers who have a deep desire to help people quit smoking and to help keep those quits intact.  This place should be a safe haven to escape the daily grind and focus on protecting our quits.  We don't believe that there is a "one size fits all" approach when it comes to quitting smoking.  Each of us has our own unique set of circumstances which contributes to how we go about quitting and more importantly, how we keep our quits.
