  1. Thanks Lace :-)
  2. All of my comments come from a place of concern, for things that I do not understand. There is no ill meant from me, just caring and compassion for what you live with.
  3. Thanks Jen :-) you're so right. Big tobacco loves telling us that smoking is highly addictive. It keeps the older smokers brainwashed. And adds a sense of danger and rebellion in the minds of impressionable teens. And the tobacco growers couldn't care if thrir crop is used in smoking or cesation products. They want you thinking you can't quit nicotine too!
  4. Thanks Marti, we are virtually next door neighbours in the grand scale of the membership of this board :-) I was in Aylesbury yesterday morning at stupid o clock doing a wedding job (Photography)
  5. Thanks El Bandito :-)

  11. thanks Rez, Yes some triggers can be because of a combination of scenarios.
  12. Hi Sue, I may be wrong, but personally I always try to suggest that if someone has complicated difficulties, that in the first instance they seek real world help from qualified health care professionals. unfortunately the written word is subject to much misinterpretation, not helped because sometimes my grammar is not too great lol. but realistically and joking aside, when we read someone's words, we have no idea if they are smiling or crying. we can guess, but that is all. I believe our duty of care is towards a persons immediate needs rather than the long term. picture this extreme example.. I could shout at a sportsman to motivate, and drive him to go one more lap, but do that to someone fragile and they could break down and be crippled. It's a huge responsibility I know, but by advising professional help, you are doing the best you possibly can. I hope that makes sense and isn't too rambly?
  13. I'm not a nurse like Julie, I have no medical training other than a first aid certificate which is probably out of date. But please listen to her, she is making a lot of sense, as is Comrade Simba. I will personally coach you through the smoking quit when the time is right if that will help, I just have genuine concern that the rollercoaster of emotion that a new quit creates may be detrimental to your treatment for your other problems. Please please please talk to your real world Health professional, for guidance. I know that you want to be strong, but sometimes strength is knowing when you need help. Best wishes, J5 :-)
  14. Sue, just enjoy life and live it to the full, the quit day count will take care of itself, and you won't even notice. it's only by chance that I realised what day I was on, and that was after looking it up just to see where I am at :-) You are doing all the right things, just keep doing them :-)
  15. MillieMollie :-) so happy to see you here :-) I hope that you will stay and offer some of your wisdom to our newbies :-) x did I say I'm happy to see you :-)
  16. Brilliant post
  17. I share Comrade Simba's concerns for your well being. One thing at a time. Get yourself any other help you need for your other problems before pushing yourself too hard. We quit to be kind to ourselves. But sometimes other kindnesses are more pressing
  18. I believe some refer to it as forms. It means shspe in the ground. Its a series of about 25 moves made into an artistic demonstration of skills and grace. It can be amazing to watch. Look up kata world champion. Its a Japanese lady. She is amazing
  19. From your profile pic I take it you practice Martial arts too? Do you find that to be an escape? I can get completely lost in Kata, and for me this has become a real source of escapism
  20. Great points Soul :-)
  21. because you realised that you have the control, you always did have :-)
  22. Bump for the newbies :-)

About us

QuitTrain®, a quit smoking support community, was created by former smokers who have a deep desire to help people quit smoking and to help keep those quits intact.  This place should be a safe haven to escape the daily grind and focus on protecting our quits.  We don't believe that there is a "one size fits all" approach when it comes to quitting smoking.  Each of us has our own unique set of circumstances which contributes to how we go about quitting and more importantly, how we keep our quits.
