  5. Hi Beacon - in my past quits i have slept a lot to try pass the withdrawal symptoms, today I think was my hardest day but I think it was more to do with I hate housework lol but I am keeping busy. Gonna start exercising tomorrow so I don't put on weight as I do tend to eat a lot when I quit. Plus it helps with my mood. I think it's strange how we feel a loss but I guess this addiction has had such a hold on all of us that it's time to let go of these demon's in our heads.
  6. Thank you for your continued support chrysalis :-)
  7. Hi oneistoo - congrats on quitting first of all, I believe we are just going through the adjustment period, which apparently takes a couple of weeks to adjust. Such as doing things that doesn't involve smoking. I went shopping today and my husband said does it feel weird walking pass the cigarette kiosk without stopping and I said a bit, he said its weird for me I always found it a inconvenience, I had to laugh. If you want to be my quit buddy that would be cool :-) Keep going oneistoo we got this quit. The best thing u could of done was to join the quittrain the support here is second to none, great people and great advise always.
  8. So day 3 and feeling a bit like something is missing u know i had heard or read that people say when u first quit smoking it's a bit like something is missing. I actually went out to my utility room last night out of habit to have a smoke then remembered i didn't smoke it felt very strange. But i guess i will reajust to my smoke free life soon enough. Feeling positive and keeping busy helps :-)

  15. I have watched all these videos today and am grateful for them, I relate to each one of them and I have made the decision not to wait until the weekend there is no point today is as good as any. I have read Alan Carr book cover to cover lots of times i chose to smoke now i choose to quit. i guess i was just trying to delay the process to get my head around quitting i should of delayed the process of lighting up, I would of been in a much better situation now. Thank you for your support
  16. convincing by yourself that you were going to spend your holiday craving a cigarette.[/size][/sup] Difference between physical and psychological urges Video discusses how while the intensity between the psychological thoughts for cigarettes weeks or months into your quit may feel very much like the physical urges you may have encountered in the beginning of your quit, that there is an important difference in the two states. http://youtu.be/_A8s7Pw7jA0 Fixating on a cigarette Video discusses how people often fixate on the desire to have "a good" cigarette. http://youtu.be/OZLJ_nlkUCQ "How long before I don't want a cigarette?" Video discusses how experience is what is going to dictate how long it is before you can do certain activities without smoking, not time. Covers some of the same concepts as smoking triggers filmed a few days before, but I believe more people will look up this title because it is a question often asked by people first quitting. http://youtu.be/CLp_ic5VgiI "Will I ever stop thinking of cigarettes?" Most people overestimate how much of a battle staying smoke free will be once they quit smoking. This video discusses how people will generally stop thinking about smoking, and much sooner than they usually think. http://youtu.be/8310BI-euJw
  17. I have just watched this video and I cried, I have 4 adult children that smoke and to think one in four of us will die through smoking just fills me with horror for my children, I feel that I have not set them a good example nor anyone else in my family which most smoke. My dad lost his leg through smoking and still smokes. I hope I can prove to them smoking is a choice and I will make the best choice. I have asthma and that's as far as I want it to go, I have fooled myself into thinking it won't happen to me, but the fact is it already has I wouldn't of got asthma if I didn't smoke I don't want oxygen. Thank you for giving me the wake up call I needed.

About us

QuitTrain®, a quit smoking support community, was created by former smokers who have a deep desire to help people quit smoking and to help keep those quits intact.  This place should be a safe haven to escape the daily grind and focus on protecting our quits.  We don't believe that there is a "one size fits all" approach when it comes to quitting smoking.  Each of us has our own unique set of circumstances which contributes to how we go about quitting and more importantly, how we keep our quits.
