  1. I indeed didn't think of the consequences , or maybe some of you were like me and didn't want to hear or see the consequences . Here in Canada there were warning signs printed on every cigarette box. Emphysema warnings and pictures of the damage that smoking would do . I pushed those pictures aside every time I bought a package and smoked . As long as symptoms were not appearing I considered myself in the "safe zone" so I could continue . Yes with the guilt , but ignoring the warnings to satisfy my addictions need. My father as well had emphysema , and as Doreen has said the progression was slow and difficult ; its process hard on everyone . Doreen my thoughts are with you . ((hugs)) Tobacco companies I am angry with you ..why would you continue to lure people to this pain. Please think of your families and quit . To those who know in their gut and their head that they need to quit , or have been told by your doctor : Do IT ! Quit . Its notimpossible .. Let the fear be your drive to quit . You can do it .
  2. no way n.o.p.e is here to stay
  3. Thanks for everyones patience and help . . Whoa !! That QT ticker is a great reminder how far we have come . Its really is neat watching all the days add up . In the beginning one day seemed like seven days and I remember watching everyday on my calender like a hawk. Somedays I hung on by a thread , others seemed no problem . As the days add up we relax and become more certain and confident of our quit . I think we all need to be proud of our journey . WTG ! Count on Keeping the Quit , cause its awesome !!
  4. Well done . You are racking up days . The view on the train is getting sweeter and sweeter . You look forward to the winding turns now and are excited to see whats on the other side . The freedom train is growing ... well done

I like that LOL I get to be Manager LOL !!!!! I think even though I don't know you all yet a, couple of you guys could need a lot of management LOL ....Oh does this mean I get to keep things in order by managing my profile ...Oh Ok ....but I catch anyone picking up a cigarette LOok out !!! I was in management for 35 years ...I know how to manage. Anyway thanks to you all for encouraging me back and allowing me to have a little fun with this tonight . We all know quitting is serious business but I have always said quitting can also be fun . It starts with day one ; march forth a day a time and victory is won. Quitting is not impossible .
  8. Thanks Seven2seven . Well lookie that ; hiding the old add a friend behind the picture trick . Learned two things new tonight; now the trick is for this old, ( young at heart )foggie to remember that info when morning returns !! Oh just kidding , of course I will remember the secret door ... and, and, and ??? , oh ya theme change does a switcheroo ok so I gotta get my rest to be at my best for tomorrow ... I am smoke free and clearer headed than when I smoked ...so I can do this and be the newest but oldest computer whiz kid ... Its like learning to walk with a walker one step at a time while gliding :) Quitting smoking is kinda like that too...One step at a time and the glide ..one step at a time and the glide ... Ya we can do this !!!!!!
  9. Mike ,thanks for the tip ... actually for the time being that does feel a little more comfortable . I am an old foggie ( young at heart LOL ) and am not very computer literate . So how does one add friends on here . I also tried posting stats banner by copy paste , but it only showed the code ..what am I doing wrong? Where is the instruction manual LOL.. Wait I have 2 and 5 yr old Grandkids ; they will know .. what kids can't teach Grandma these days about computers LOL.. Thanks to those who reached out to welcome and offer help . I will check back and will lurk a bit until I can figure out some things . If I can quit smoking , I can figure this out too :) Have a good night everyone .
  10. KTQ Lost on this train .. Cannot find my way around well here sorry . I am always lost with computer stuff anyway. Hope you all keep chugging along forward . KTQ
  11. Posting here this evening just for my own reassurance to KMQ ...(keep my quit) . Holidays can be a luring temptation . Sudden trigers , sudden stress, all can attribute to resurfacing of old memories of smoking . It did , and of course I guess an old conditioned response resurfaced . Ah but now I have the insight and the knowledge and tools in my tool bag not to cave in to stressful times , and manage my stress smoke free . I don't smoke anymore , so smoking is not an option . Not only that I LOVE my quit ... so I am going to sleep now and tomorrow will indeed be a better day . . My quit is important I am KMQ ( keeping My quit)

  13. I am trying to figure out what goes where on this club .I think I will most likely post in the blog area . This seems to be topics for dicussion , however I should hope all topics are open for discussion . A question ? Can posts /blogs be deleted and if so how?
  14. If we begin to battle with our decision and waver in our goal our addictive mind will grab that opportunity to steal our confidence and give us doubt. Keep your eye on the prize .Keep the prize at the finish line your goal; for today that goal is that at the end of the day, you will have not smoked . Its not a race , its just taking one step at a time and reaching your goal . Take your power back and take the power away from cigarettes . You deserve to be smoke free . .

  19. Hi , I'm Raya . I have been quit since June 30 th of 2011 ...so coming close to 4 years . I still shake my head first in amazement ! Me? Quit? As most of us ..I never thought I could , but by taking one day at a time and just getting by that day smoke free , time has sure added up . I couldn't be happier that I decided on a forever quit . I look forward to participating here and look forward to meeting you all . I am glad I have come aboard the quit train . I hope to encourage and be of support to all .

About us

QuitTrain®, a quit smoking support community, was created by former smokers who have a deep desire to help people quit smoking and to help keep those quits intact.  This place should be a safe haven to escape the daily grind and focus on protecting our quits.  We don't believe that there is a "one size fits all" approach when it comes to quitting smoking.  Each of us has our own unique set of circumstances which contributes to how we go about quitting and more importantly, how we keep our quits.
