  5. sorry double post
  6. Its late and I am awake , and I got thinking how this quitting process has truly has been a roller coaster . Remember the first days quitting smoking are much like a roller coaster so if an hour from now you don't feel so good; RIDE IT OUT . There may be bit of a turn, and you feel queezy and wonder if you made the right decision ; RIDE IT OUT. There may be a hill , and you are filled with fear where you don't know whats on the other side ; RIDE IT OUT. Then you overlook that fall ahead of you ; and it takes your breathe away ; RIDE IT OUT . You may feel fear and panic and tears ; you may feel like screaming , shouting and you are just hanging on for dear life ; RIDE IT OUT. There are smooth patches and straightaways and the roller coaster does come to a stop, but in the beginning of quitting smoking just as in a real roller coaster ride , we don't quite know what to expect . It looks big and it looks scary . We step on with little faith and with little hope only protected by a buckle ; for the RIDE OF OUR LIFE. Oops! ( think I lost myself there and all of you LOL) Lets get back to quitting smoking and lets just sit at the top of this rollercoaster and think about things a bit shall we . Yup we have stopped at the top, and we are rocking back and forth . la ta da ta da back and forth. Ok so this is my thinking : If we were to ride the same roller coaster everyday then we would know what to expect and we are not as fearful when we know what to expect . Our fear and anxiety slowly subsides . The ride is still exciting and becomes rather enjoyable and even comfortable. We find the next turn won't scare us and the next hill won't take our breathe away , and roller coasters won't scare us anymore . And at the end of the day we get off excited and thrilled that we accomplished the uncertain and the unknown . Thats why "ONE day at a tIme works . Do it over and over and over ; at the end of each day be a winner . Some day you will tell this story to your grandkids, the story about the smokers rollercoaster quit ride . Perhaps someday you will go on a roller coaster ride with your kids and grandchildren to the county fair ; you will eat cotton candy ; ride on the ferris wheel ; or just watch ; but please if you do please share with them all the dangers of smoking and help them to understand that listening to advertisements about smoking and other smoking methods. may look appealing ; but they are preying on your young ; killers of your health ; your families health ; thieves of your money , and your life time. Smoking will never bring you happiness . Teach them that happiness is free ; you create it. There is no charge . OH by the way ? Are you still rocking back and forth up there on that roller coaster ? Move forward . You have a lot of friends cheering you on and waiting for you below . C YA ALL TOMORROW
  7. N.O.P. E NOT ONE PUFF EVER AGAIN

  10. Wow thanks for sharing everyone . These things are really cool . Smoking could have stopped us at never being able to do even the little things . Smoking doesn't stand in the way of our dreams anymore . IT CAN BE done . I can't wait to hear more exciting things that you would like to do now you don't smoke.

  13. We have some awesome quitters here today . This is very good news . It is encouraging for all of us when another makes a milestone . Day 1 is my favourite . ( a milestone is Day 1..6001, in between and beyond and is to be proud of ) So its time to celebrate today , and continue on with that journey .. don't turn your back on this beautiful quit ...just keep moving forward . Now that you have more energy I expect you will be out dancing the night away, shopping , running the races , golfing seeing movies, concerts, buying new cloths , getting the hair done , a manicure, pedicure , perhaps a vacation . ( all guilt free and stress free enjoyment ) . Why? because you quit smoking and quitting smoking has many rewards . All this money you are saving will be put to good use . Money spent is now money earned. Our smoke deserving right ( the right we felt guilty of; stress induced ) of five to twelve dollars a day really added up didn't it ? Today, 20's 50's 100's; 1000's of deserving Quit dollars are now in your pocket for you to use ; not the tobacco company . Look at your life time saved from quitting : WOW!!!! That will be put to good use . What are the "to do" things that were on your bucket list? You know the ones you always wanted to do and never had time or money time or the health for ? You better start doing them , and adding; make that list bigger and start ticking them off . Para sailing , zip line ? Learning the guitar .. learn to swim ? Do something you have always wanted to do .. because YOU CAN ! Now you have that time saved count on seeing the kids at graduations weddings , and grandkids. Be proud and wear your smile :) Your quit smoking $$$$ saved time, saved HEALTH, saved money , and saved lives . ! This journey has been worth it hasn't it ? Those tough days some of you are having now ..those are for learning that better days are coming . Embrace them as part of your road to health like the healing of a broken bone ..you'll be better in no time . There will be no need for Crutches .. You will be almost as good as new . HANG IN THERE EVERYONE ! Day 1 quitters .. Congratulations .. Day 2 , months , Congratulations .. in fact CONGRATULATIONS to everyone of us . WE Quit smoking!!! How awesome is that ! Whats on your bucket list? I seriously want to do a train ride through the Rocky Mountains Go zip line with my grandkids ..and shout my quit smoking stats in the mountains and hear it echo back.

  18. My quit is pretty exciting . It still ceases to amaze me how frightened I was in the beginning. How uncertain and unconfident I was. Taking 1 day at a time and keeping it totally smoke free really is the key . Life is pretty exciting without cigarettes and well worth the journey. I look back , and I see all the struggles, the tears , the fear, but I also see the adventure that it was. I was discovering a new me behind that cloud of smoke . Quitting is possible and it is doable! Imagine that! We who doubt , doubt no more!!! We are all going to be smokers who have turned to non smoking - x smokers :) YIPEE!!! WTG! How awesome is that !!! :) As always: :) a day at a time . Ooooo! I found the smileys :)

  22. cpk Thanks for sharing . I love what you said about it being like an old photo album. What a wonderful reflection in time . Thanks again
  23. Isn't amazing how although our goals are the same we all have our own unique journey . With each post and story we learn something new about ourselves and this quit journey As well ,without even knowing we give away part of ourselves to others, and they take as they need and apply it to their journey . All the winning ways just keep revolving and helping each other. Is that not cool !!! Thanks to all , and keep posting not smoking :)
  24. ( thoughts from my journal) Sharing some of my early days with you all > >>> back in time : 3 years and 9 months ago …>>>>>> Back in time <<<<<<< Here we Go. Having to push the restart button over and over was so exhausting , so discouraging and so defeating . I felt hopeless that "I" may one day be quit. I learned that to keep a quit I had to make a firm committment to MYSELF that I could not continue to do what I had always done. Some craves can be really tough but everyone we get through has less power the next time. I remember how exhausting it was, battling craves and battling my mind, battling craves; battling my mind ; until one day miraculously I totally and completely understood that smoking was not an option anymore ; for ANY REASON ! That mean’t my cigs were NOT on the TABLE , NOT on the CHAIR , NOT ANYWHERE ! They were NOT on the counter , NOT at the store ! Letting go of the romance I was giving to cigarettes brought relief . Only then did I REST in PEACE knowing what my goal WAS and what MY job was : FOCUSING on the journey to SUCCEED . Why be our worst enemy ? Thats what I was : my own worst enemy ! Don’t look at success being distant and far away , look at success as being now : today. One crave beaten is success / one day beaten is success ; its One day at a time--- NO LIE ! Because we have been prey to addiction, it takes some hard work to retrain our thinking to physically and emotionally recover , but hard work does pay off , and we will never have to deal with Day 1 again . I learned after many months quit that what we feed ourselves determines EVERY DECISION we make ; and our decisions will determine the FINAL OUTCOME . We must not let anything --- how we feel---- our circumstances ------ or how hard it is, snatch our quit from under our nose. Be good to yourself — work through every day …there is a big payday coming . Every crave will pass ; this day will pass ; You are on your way >>>>>>to the future :) ~~~~~~~/////////~~~~~~~~~//////~~~~~~ The craves WILL stop

About us

QuitTrain®, a quit smoking support community, was created by former smokers who have a deep desire to help people quit smoking and to help keep those quits intact.  This place should be a safe haven to escape the daily grind and focus on protecting our quits.  We don't believe that there is a "one size fits all" approach when it comes to quitting smoking.  Each of us has our own unique set of circumstances which contributes to how we go about quitting and more importantly, how we keep our quits.
