thank you so much everyone I am so pleased to be celebrating these 10 months at times I felt I was in quick sand, but I managed to hang on and things are easier again and I feel I have made a lot of progress :) your support and experiences are credited to my quit as if I was alone I would not have made it I trust you and believe in what you say as at each turn you have been proven right and I march forward not only have you helped me in my quit but you have also become my friends and companions and that is priceless we have laughed together and cried together my comrade in arms :) It is so wonderful to see the new members join and the QT going from strength to strength and to see those who jumped off jump straight back on or not stray too far from the station people genuinely care here, they take time to get to know you, that is special everyone brings something to the board and I am proud to be part of it and in this with every single one of you Thank you xxxxx

Hi Laura :) I will join you in NOPE

hi Jules welcome to the site :) yes what you are feeling can is normal for some even if you are months quit, the difference is knowing its normal and why and with education about nicotine addiction and support here when you need it is the key to keep moving forward you can and will get through this try not to fixate on dates and times just go with the flow I fixated on getting past 6 months and boy when that time lapsed I was in trouble! today I celebrate 10 months quit ~ these sticky moments do indeed pass keep reading and posting the support here is great and can help you through these times all ex smokers here with different experiences and lifestyles keep telling yourself you can do it just for today and tommorow tell yourself just for today what you are feeling will pass massive congratulations on your 28 days - yahoo for you how awesome is that!!
-

11 what mischief is going on in here then?
-
listen to your instincts and you have learned something from this We know you can do this and you have to keep reminding yourself of that every single day its all about the mind set, what you tell your brain is what its going to react to even if its a lie keep tricking it - if you are craving tell the beggar to get lost you do not want it!! keep telling it Mind over matter :)

Hi Laura No 1 quitting smoking is not impossible for you or anyone :P No 2 drinking can make you lose your control  I knew it was a huge stumbling block for me so I did not drink until I could trust myself, I dipped my toe in and after a few weeks just drank a little at home, then a little more and then when I felt comfortable one day I got completely sloshed all by myself :) and bit the bullet other just face it head on from the start~ whatever works for you Its still an area for me that is hard but with a plan and knowledge I/you can overcome it like: escape if too hard drink lots of water and stop drinking if becoming too hard go for a walk do not drink until stronger The quit has to be No1 priority whatever it takes Its only temporary, you don`t have to live like a nun for the rest of your life ;) I drink as much now as I ever did, maybe more but I am not telling B) bet your hangover was horrid :spining_stars: :bad: Now Miss Laura you just jump right back on board :)
-
so happy for you CS you are living proof on "how close to the wire" but you can turn things around, a true inspiration to wannabe quitters congratulations on your 8 months :)

Truly sick of craving a cigarette this month
Tink replied to Aine's topic in Quit Smoking Discussions
yes Aine I hear you, I was feeling exactly the same a few weeks ago to the point I was also getting angry, Why the F can`t I smoke dam it!!!! of course we all know why, we are educated addicts now, we recognise the junky thoughts albeit it doesnt make it easier, I do believe it is connected to our emotions, you have been through a traumatic time of late and had to stay strong throughout for everyone and now things are slowing down a bit and there leaves a void and what did we normally do to avoid the void :( Dont be too hard on yourself Aine, its a pain in the arse but its part of the journey you will find your peace, as hard as it was, the other day I didnt think of it at all, as quick as the storm came, the storm then passed keep a hold of the rope hun, let out your anger and frustration out and try and find a distraction to fill the void anything a building project or new exercise regime anything to just distract yourself keep posting and work it through, you are not alone in this xx -
sleep breathing exercises green tea water youtube hypnosis videos keeping busy exercising eating I was working at the time and had not found the forum by then I was pretty much house bound jumping on the spot helped, focusing on being healthy, spent alot of time preparing healthy food which takes time with hands and mind first 3 days all abit of a blur but not half as bad as I had feared before i quit!
