  2. OK this is a little morbid and deep but I was thinking about it: Yesterday I spent a lovey day with my niece who pretty much is as close as a daughter can get to me and I was thinking what would her life be like without me in it? I lost my dad to lung cancer when he was 49 he has never met 2 of his grand daughters, a grandson a great grand daughter and more to come I am sure ;) he never gave my sisters away at their weddings I know this has affected these people sure life goes on but there is always something missing - a piece of the puzzle This just re- affirmed my quit as I will never leave her intentionally I will not throw myself under that smoking bus The ugly truth is smoking will eventually make you ill or kill you maybe not today maybe not tomorrow but it will eventually catch up with you WHO WOULD YOU LEAVE BEHIND?

  18. The other week staying in a hotel the hotel was huge as a smoker I would have had to get coat on go in lift down 8 floors walk half a mile through the Lobby stand shamefully out side in wind and rain have tourists stare at me walk half mile stinking back through lobby lift up 8 floors coat and boots off repeat all of above every 40 minutes or less if drinking wine OMG how pathetic it looks and sounds when you type it out - but as a smoker that is what I would have done :dash2:
  19. Its Ironic how we used to use smoking as a stress buster Life in general can be pretty stressful and still will be as a non-smoker smoking in reality just used to cause more stress in an already stressful situation (recognising now that in truth we only got a nicotine fix) but what did we have to put ourselves through to get that FIX?? its only further down the line in your quit you realize this for me it was about the 2 months point when I noticed it or noticed lack of it for some hopefully it was a lot sooner Lets see if we can list the times when you realized smoking caused or could have caused more stress for you and uncover some truths and bust some more myths about smoking Remember if you cannot relate to this topic yet - you soon will :)

  21. I dont cook with salt either but I do add it after (coarse sea salt) I Love soup and found it was too salty if you added it whilst cooking but afterwards was just enough I could not eat any soup without salt that I had made from scratch can you get those low substitutes over there - like lo salt? or you could try dried herbs instead of salt? will be interesting to see the replies here sorry colleen - not much help

  23. I am happy my niece is coming over to visit today - I have a feeling its going to cost me a fortune in girlie shopping and lunch - but she is worth it :)

About us

QuitTrain®, a quit smoking support community, was created by former smokers who have a deep desire to help people quit smoking and to help keep those quits intact.  This place should be a safe haven to escape the daily grind and focus on protecting our quits.  We don't believe that there is a "one size fits all" approach when it comes to quitting smoking.  Each of us has our own unique set of circumstances which contributes to how we go about quitting and more importantly, how we keep our quits.
