  1. You just have to be a badass and dismiss it. On my second day quit... it was the National Championship... my Irish were playing (kind of) the Crimson SuckTide) I was at a bar with the wife and we were drinking etc and I remember the guy that was sitting next to us kept going outside and smoking. He smelled soooooo good when he came back in. I was fit to be tied.... I was ready to go... I was ready to go get me some smokes and really get it on. We left the bar at half time because, well I am that old.. and headed home. I remember asking my wife if she would stop and get us smokes so we could have one... one. She talked me out of it and I grudgenly complide. When I woke up the next morning and realize that I had not smoked the night before... I KNEW I had won. I knew that I was going to quit for good. Everytime I drank/partied I would have the thought...but each time it was easier and easier to dismiss until I never had the thought again. Keep on keepin on.

  13. Look at all of us coming out of the hiker closet. I too love to hike. Right now I am planning 2 shake down hikes... one in southern Indiana and the second is in New Hampshire. Then I will start working on Section hiking the AT. Figure it will take about 10 years.. .since unfortunately I have to work. While you are hiking stand on top of a mountain and take a deep breath and close your eyes and feel how amazing it is to have all that fresh air in your system. You could not do that as a smoker. Keep on hikin' on

  22. I don't miss getting up in the middle of dinner at a restaurant to go outside and smoke cause my addiction was so bad. Looking like a moron. And then getting back and not know what the hell everyone was thinking about. And I stunk I don't miss going out to the parking lot of the little league in the middle of junior's game to have a smoke... fyi, I was the coach. I don't miss my car smelling like an ashtray. I don't miss going outside is subzero temps to smoke. I don't miss all the fcuking money I spent on smokes. keep on keepin on

  25. Welcome and congrats on your new life. Everyday will get easier and everyday will push smoking farther and farther away. Don't pay no attention to the fact that you are scared that you will fail. That means it is an option. Give all your energy and mindfulnees into that fact hat you are a badass and you WILL NOT FAIL!!! It is not an option. Keep on keepin on.

About us

QuitTrain®, a quit smoking support community, was created by former smokers who have a deep desire to help people quit smoking and to help keep those quits intact.  This place should be a safe haven to escape the daily grind and focus on protecting our quits.  We don't believe that there is a "one size fits all" approach when it comes to quitting smoking.  Each of us has our own unique set of circumstances which contributes to how we go about quitting and more importantly, how we keep our quits.
