  1. I won't smoke today either-why put yourself in a smelly fog??
  2. Isn't it funny but so sad what we all totally believed in as smokers, everyone has their ties to their cigs & the forever/never again sounds like the end of the world on day one BUT 6 months later you realize what a doofus you were.
  3. Sorry you have such a "bond" with your smokes, maybe this & being not prepared to find cig freedom is why you're a serial quitter?? Back in 2009 when I made attempts "to try" to quit cause I had a heart attack I would go between a few days to 10 months & I had this fantasy that if my dr. saw how "unhappy" I was for being forced to quit he'd change his mind or God forbid suggest a E CIG BUT I finally got my head out of my @ss & listened to seasoned quitters & got with the program. I hope you won't wait for an health issue to crop up before waking up & realizing that YOU want to control your life & not allow 3 inches of burning crap rule your life.
  4. Sorry that the addict in you won this round BUT theirs always tomorrow. Parents can be real jerks NOT all parents are like The Brady Bunch etc. I know YOU will read more & get a more solid foundation for your quit. You are in charge.
  5. For sure-have a funfilled day on this your birthday.
  6. Me too Sarge, but I decided to see if I would be accepted here & I was.
  7. :sorry:Yeah the addict in us is always waiting & watching for a chance "to hook you" once more. By now you do know this & have a tight grip on your quit. Sorry that things aren't too hot for you & the family right now.
  8. NOPE
  9. Welcome to our family of quitters. Wow to be free 10 yrs & start up again is sad news. Listen to the advice others have given you & embrace the word NOPE-Not One Puff Ever. It will help keep you cig free.
  10. No smoking for me either.
  11. The 2nd yr is almost a sweeter victory cause you have succeeded for a yr already. So happy for you.
  12. No smoking for me, never again.
  13. At first all or at least most of us were crying in our beer by day 3, BUT like others have said hang in there & for each crave you don't give into makes other craves down the road not so overwhelming. Trust us if quitting stayed as sucky as those early days I sure as HELL wouldn't be 3 yrs+ cig free.
  14. I most likely have the grayish
  15. Great post, so glad you cruised thru. You should have a list as long as your arm for those you helped thru the yrs.
  16. Don't give up, sometimes we would rather see are addiction as just a gross habit-like biting your nails.......it sounds like you're still dealing with seeing your addiction for what it is-AN ADDICTION. Once you embrace that concept it will set you free.
  17. I like short people or Beth.
  18. I miss the nickel machines-man I haven't been to one in maybe 10 yrs??? Congrats on not being tempted.
  19. A good friend told me that sometimes when near that 1st yr mark in the back of your mind you dread succeeding-I know I thought no way until I threw away am almost 11 month quit. Its just your addiction trying to lure you back on the smokers team.
  20. 3 months & counting!!!!!! keep going down the quit road.
  21. 7 yrs-how cool is that :) :) Big congrats since you were part of the group that hung in their so I would succeed., maybe you should play 777 on a lottery ticket??
  22. That's so cool them having a girl. Ought to be interesting the name they choose.
  23. :cray::So sorry, that's one thing we all have in common-wondering did I quit before theirs damage or whatever.I'm figuring this about the lost of your Dad, losing anyone is hard but a parent who we all figure will be around forever do past on.Eveyone says in time your heart will heal but for some of us that doesn't always happen.
  24. Sorry you feel that this group thing isn't for you. Sometimes it is easier to "wing it" but sometimes people leave cause they aren't ready to give up their smokes. My wish is that you find what you need & just stay cig free.
  25. 7 months that's so cool, now you're able to enjoy your quit & have a sense of relief that you to can do this.

About us

QuitTrain®, a quit smoking support community, was created by former smokers who have a deep desire to help people quit smoking and to help keep those quits intact.  This place should be a safe haven to escape the daily grind and focus on protecting our quits.  We don't believe that there is a "one size fits all" approach when it comes to quitting smoking.  Each of us has our own unique set of circumstances which contributes to how we go about quitting and more importantly, how we keep our quits.
