  1. Sometimes minute by minute but the good news is that is gets much easier with each milestone. Early on your milestone may be one hour, then one day, then one week and then before you know it, you're approaching your 1st year smoke-free anniversary. Are you aware of all of the chemicals in each cigarette?
  2. I'm originally from the Cleveland as well. Ravens & Orioles fan here. Gave up on Cleveland a long time ago.
  3. Oh and yeah, love "The Walking Dead". We have entire thread dedicated to it. Did you see season 4? Devil Doll and Queen Greenlover are Dead junkies.
  4. Yeah right, not buying it. I have 3 kids. I know what spilled milk on a shirt looks like. What did you do, wipe the milk from your chin right before you took the pic? (you said you like sarcasm, so do I) :)
  5. Brittany, You're avatar - you have something white dripping on your shirt. Did you walk under the wrong bird? What is it? Milk?
  6. One that gets tossed around quite a bit. wanker = a jokester
  7. Here's one I bet nobody knew about. whilst = while :)
  8. Your PC probably is goofing up but not in the case. lol This is the 2nd idea for a new forum for you. First you suggested the Off The Record and now this one. You're the idea lady. :scratch_one-s_head:
  9. Welcome, Mason! You can definitely do this and even enjoy the process of quitting. There are other members here who have quit with spouses or significant others that still smoke. No matter what, you can quit. Even a knucklehead like me can quit so that proves that anybody can do it. If there are any issues that you're struggling with or nervous about anything, post it so we can work through it with you. Most things are not as bad as we make them out to be and quitting smoking is definitely one of them. Thanks for joining and make yourself at home. There are lots of cool features to the forum that you're free to use anytime that you want. :)
  10. Congrats to you and your husband on one of the best decisions that you could ever make. There is no hope needed to quit smoking. All you have to do is live by N.O.P.E. (not one puff ever) and learn about this horrible, deadly addiction. Lots of good info and videos pinned to the top of the Quit Smoking forum. Stay close, post often and if you think you may cave and smoke, please post and S.O.S. in the S.O.S. forum and wait just a minute or two and somebody be there to help. Myself, all the moderators and many members get alerts whenever a new thread is made in the S.O.S. forum and most go directly to our phones via email. Thanks for joining our forum!
  11. I'm not looking for the next great debate on dog behavior with somebody on the internet. Glad you enjoyed the video. :)
  12. To me, this video shows the unconditional love that dogs possess. The dog in this video doesn't care that the child has Down's syndrome and doesn't stop showing this little boy how much he loves him. At first the boy is a little unsure but soon can't resist the unconditional love of the dog and wants to hug it and be near it. Very touching. Our family dog was lost for a little for more than 24 hours this past weekend and I feared the worst but a very kind family brought him into their home until we saw each other putting up fliers about the pooch. Yesterday I was reminiscing about my old yellow Labrador Retriever who passed away six years ago. He was such a kind, cuddly dog that loved to be hugged and by your side 24/7. I remember on a very cold night I was working into the early hours of the morning (middle of winter in the snow belt of Ohio) so I decided to just sleep at work where there was little heat. It was hovering around 0°F outside and 50-ish inside. All 95 lbs of him slept on top of me all night. I could barely breathe but he kept me warm so I put up with it. lol My old yellow Labrador. :) Anyway, before I start going on for hours about my dogs, I was looking at videos of yellow labs on YouTube yesterday and came across this one and thought I would share it. Yes, anybody who knows how to use video editing software can make a video of anything good or bad and caption it "God doesn't make mistakes."
  13. Please use this subforum to ask us any questions about the forum. If you need help using a certain feature like blogs, the calendar etc., this is the new home for those questions. :)
  14. This is a good idea. I'll make this thread stick around somewhere. :) The blue/orange theme is here to stay. The original theme is still here, just hidden from the drop down box because our logo is too large for the original header and although I can change the size of the header to accommodate the logo, it doesn't look too good. I never really thought about it until now, but perhaps I can have the designer who created this theme for me (yeah, I picked the colors etc., :) ) create another theme using mostly shades of blue & gray. Guests cannot post. The main reason is because I don't want spam bots littering our site. We've had a few human spammers but they've been removed. Guests can only read the forums and cannot view the member list, member profiles or the OTR forum. I've set the guest permissions so they can read pretty much everything and get a good idea about who we are but at the same time, protect members' privacy.
  15. Unconditional love in it's purest form. I once read that our dogs love us so much they dream about us each night.

  17. Congratulations, Colleen!
  18. Sugar-free Jello with no whipped cream
  19. Probably around 1988. When was the last time you punched somebody?
  20. Never When was the last time you you chewed gum?
  21. No excuses. You've stopped smoking or better yet, quit smoking so you better make sure you stick around this quit smoking support group which has it's own message forum, or as you like to put it, message board. Nope.
  22. 7,768 cigarettes not smoked in almost 8 months. $2,774.27 saved. $11 per day, $83 per week and $332 per month to smoke. Disgusting how I used to waste my hard earned money. You can do a lot of things with $332 per month. Two private music lessons per week for one child is what my smoking can now pay for. Look at the stark contrast between where that money goes to now. I sit here literally speechless to think of all the benefits that learning music has to a child versus me smoking and shortening my life which hurts my children more than me. I'm so glad I quit. I'm so glad my Dr. told me I was an addict and full of shit. I'm so glad to have found other quitters who understand. :i-m_so_happy:
  23. The only advice I have is to keep your guard up if you drink any alcohol. Many people relapse because of alcohol so just be aware of what happens if you drink and like Ava said, check in on your mobile if you need to. Also, any thread in the S.O.S. forum goes straight to all of the moderators email/cell phones as well as many other members so you won't be left in a lurch if you find yourself having a tough time. You're 3 weeks quit so you deserve a reward and the freedom to do whatever you want without the fear of smoking. Have fun and remember that you're a non-smoker and have already freed yourself from the grip of nicotine addiction.
  24. Job well done, Sue. Congrats!!!

About us

QuitTrain®, a quit smoking support community, was created by former smokers who have a deep desire to help people quit smoking and to help keep those quits intact.  This place should be a safe haven to escape the daily grind and focus on protecting our quits.  We don't believe that there is a "one size fits all" approach when it comes to quitting smoking.  Each of us has our own unique set of circumstances which contributes to how we go about quitting and more importantly, how we keep our quits.
