  1. lol That's funny about the buzzards. Hey, newsflash Joe. Mother nature knows no age when it comes to running. We were at a color run last weekend and there were dudes who looked like they were 70 who cruised the thing far ahead of much younger people. You can get into the best shape of your life at your age. I'm not saying that an Olympic runner is going to be in better shape at 70 than he/she was at 23, but for the rest of us, we can achieve great gains in the cardio department. I'm also not saying that we can pack on muscle like a 20 year old but we can get our tickers in fantastic shape, buzzards not withstanding. lol :) I have issues with my back and hip and and overall don't care for running which is why I only run for 30 minutes as fast as I can to get it over with. I much prefer biking as it's much easier on my back.
  2. NOPE, I will not be smoking today.
  3. Welcome, Vic! My late Grandfather's middle name was Victor so cool name. :) It's not a very common name these days so whenever I hear it I'm reminded of find memories with him. You're at the perfect age to quit smoking. Now is the time. Make this your last quit because at your age, you're going to be able to reverse most if not all of the damage that you've done by smoking. If sometime told me most of the damage I've done could be reversed I'd take it in a heartbeat! People who've never smoked can't have any idea what we go through as smokers and as non-smokers as we learn to live our lives not smoking. It definitely is a change but it's all good. There is not one single bad thing about quitting smoking but there is not one good thing about smoking. Smoking is all bad. Every bit of it, despite the lies that it relaxes you, helps you deal with stress and all that nonsense the your inner junkie wants you to believe. Stay as active as you can around here. Post what you're going through, your thoughts, feelings, fears, accomplishments and of course, advice. Just because you're starting a new quit doesn't mean that you don't have anything to offer the rest of us so post and post often. PS, your English is fine and even if it wasn't, doesn't matter around here. We're like a melting pot of smokers and non-smokers from around the world. :)
  4. Welcome, Tom! Every single day that I smoked (every time I smoked most likely) I felt guilty because I knew I was robbing my children of time with me not only in the present, but also in the future as I was certain to succumb to an early death. The moment that I put out my last death stick is the moment that burden was lifted. When you put out your last cigarette you instantly become a non-smoker. You're giving your 3 children the thing they want more than anything; their Dad to quit smoking and be around them for many, many more years. The best place for a smoker to be is right here. There is no requirement to be smoke-free for membership. Lots of people want to quit and that's all that matters. The only situation a smoker would be turned away from this sight is if some marketing executive from Philip Morris was here advertising their death sticks. Gotta draw the line somewhere, right? :) We have some really good documentaries to watch to help keep your mind occupied, games to play in the Socializing forum and all sorts of craziness from members here who will help keep you grounded and on the right path. Not to mention of course the great advice and listening ears from people who truly care about your quit. Feel free to start your own blog, post whenever or wherever you wish, share how you're feeling (the good the bad and the ugly) and of course if you feel like you might slip up and smoke, please post an S.O.S. and wait for members to respond. All of the moderators get a copy of the SOS sent directly to their phones and many members do as well. No matter what we're doing, an S.O.S. isn't confined to whoever is on the forums at the time. No matter where we're at or what we're doing, we'll get the message come to help. This is your forum. Please use it and take advantage of it to rid yourself of this deadly addiction. :)
  5. There is a huge difference this time for you. It's in your words and the way you're processing this quit. You're identifying the junkie thinking and then instantly debunking the lie with truth. You're going to make it and you're going to be comfortable being a non-smoker. :)
  6. Welcome, SanDar! This will be your final quit. :)
  7. Ooo-la-la
  8. Yep, Mish-own. Or just babe for short as I call her at home. ;)
  9. I saw that on FB, Trish, pretty funny. Y'all want some Bruce? You want some Rob Zombie? Man you all just opened up a can of whoop ass! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Bsw8koMaZXU http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7tHYDPTW9Jk
  10. Micchone is my girl. It was love at first sight. :give_heart2: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PLp8BSCmNOs
  11. First of all Tiffany, you're not going anywhere I know that you're not going to smoke. You're in the middle of it right now. You're in the fight of your life, for your life. Everybody's quit is different which is what makes a support group work. If we all had the same exact experiences, this would be a snooze fest of epic proportions. Some people need support to stop addictions, help their marriages, help themselves in the workplace, deal with grief etc. while others do just fine by themselves. For me, I've learned to share my feelings and talk to people rather than keep it in. Here, you're among friends who understand. We understand this addiction and will support you even when you don't think you can do it anymore. We will never, ever give up. There is no expiration date on support. I'm addicted to caffeine just as I am addicted to nicotine. Caffeine probably won't kill be must smoking certainly would, sooner or later. No matter what you're struggling with, you can't smoke because it will kill you. If you think that being an addict is a label, or worse yet a stereotype, that notion couldn't be farther from the truth. Again, you're in the fight of your life right now so don't give an inch. Never give a God damn inch.--The Stamper Family from Oregon
  12. Come out, come out wherever you are. ^_^
  13. Nice looking truck. Not sure if you're truck can live up to the name of the stunningly beautiful, sword wielding bad ass we know as Michonne but if it could, that's what I'd name it.
  14. I took this from my about me page. It wasn't until I admitted to myself that I was an addict that I saw smoking as it really was, and myself. "In early December 2012 I went to see my Dr. about something unrelated and before I left I decided to mention that I wanted to quit smoking but enjoyed it too much. I told him that I could quit if I really wanted to, I just didn’t want to. I told him that I wanted to quit smoking for my family because they meant everything to me and I knew that the cigarettes would eventually catch up with me if I didn’t quit for good. In a nutshell, he told me I was full of shit. He told me that my family wasn’t the most important thing in my life, cigarettes were. He also went on to tell me that I was an addict to which I laughed and said “you’re telling me that I’m an addict because I’m smoking tobacco? It’s not like I’m shooting heroin or snorting cocaine.” He chuckled to himself and said “you’re the exact definition of an addict and the only reason why you’re not out on the streets stealing to feed your addiction is because cigarettes are legal.” I was mad as I sat there. How could this man say these things to me? I really do enjoy smoking. I sat and I listened. He gave me a prescription for Wellbutrin XL to help me quit smoking. I told him that I didn’t need any medication to quit smoking and he informed me that I had been smoking for nearly 28 years with several failed attempts at quitting and whatever I was doing was not working."
  15. That's a good thing, Jimmy. I never want to read that you've honed your pole dancing skills. lol :)
  16. I've never seen it but now I want to but don't have HBO.
  17. Congrats, CS! Your gardens should be coming along so far?
  18. There really isn't a place for smokers anymore. They're segregated from the rest of society. They have special areas they have to linger at to smoke. Have to carry their collective asses outside to smoke in all kinds of weather, and they look forward to this "break". Society is voting them out of buildings, restaurants and even bars. What's to come in 30 years? Imagine an island where all smokers will be sent. Imagine the smell. The faces. The disease. The death. I wonder if the trees would survive? Would all of the animals leave and the ones which stayed be condemned to the same life sentence? All smokers will be sent to smoking colonies where their addiction can no longer affect the rest of society.
  19. Tell him to take the Lotus back that he borrowed to impress you, put away his 7th grade science project (his homemade vaping machine) and go back home and deal with the issues in his marriage. On second thought, he's not even worth the effort. Be thankful you're not his wife. Hope you had a nice visit with your Mom and are feeling better.
  20. Welcome, Yogi!! Thanks for joining us. Congrats on your quit - we're within one month of each other. :)
  21. Did you try rebooting your machine?
  22. Glad to hear you made it through!

About us

QuitTrain®, a quit smoking support community, was created by former smokers who have a deep desire to help people quit smoking and to help keep those quits intact.  This place should be a safe haven to escape the daily grind and focus on protecting our quits.  We don't believe that there is a "one size fits all" approach when it comes to quitting smoking.  Each of us has our own unique set of circumstances which contributes to how we go about quitting and more importantly, how we keep our quits.
