  1. I cannot wait to hear, "CARL!!!!! Stay back with the others!" hahahahaha Can't wait but the only thing is that now that I'm a fan of this show, I won't be able to binge watch it and will have to wait a week to find out what happens in the next episode.
  2. I checked it out one night because I was done binge watching "Breaking Bad" and after the first couple of episodes, I was hooked and before I knew it I was binge watching it. lol They film that about 15 minutes from my home in Maryland.
  3. ...and a huge undertaking. I've asked Beth if she would be willing to help me out in an area that I quite frankly don't have the time required to keep up with on a routine basis. Actually, not only am I unable to keep up with it, I've yet to start. I was actually a little nervous to ask anybody to do this because it's such a very time consuming task that needs continually updated. Since we've started this forum there have been a number of people who have joined who were ready to quit, made a commitment to quit, starting to become active on the forum and then simply stopped. In our efforts to spread the word that anybody can quit smoking, expose the lies of smoking and offer support (to name just a few), reaching out to those who were very new into their quits and have disappeared, is one more area that we can use our collective resources to help. Myself and others post threads asking the whereabouts of members that have disappeared which is great because we often times get responses from them and know they're okay but other times, no response at all. This is where we can be doing more. When members join (and at anytime after) they have the option to receive emails from Quit Train. If they want to receive emails from us, we will send out a personal email to each one to check on them and see if there is anything we can to do help. It will also offer some insight on areas that myself, the moderators and Beth can improve the forum. We want everybody to know that once they join, they are never forgotten and we've not given up on them. This is one way that can have a very positive impact as we help others quit this horrible addiction and let them know that we're still here, waiting for them to come back and get their health and freedom back. Beth will have the laborious task of not only making a list of these members, but also doing a bit of research to see what issues (if any) each were having and when they stopped posting so I can add this information into a spreadsheet (yes, Ava, a spreadsheet, they're everywhere) to organize these members who have not been forgotten and any progress and feedback that we receive. Once the initial list is made, I'll draft an email to each person to see how they are and that we're still here for them. We respect members' privacy and will not contact those who wish to not be contacted but we will make every effort to look out for our own. If sending an email is another way we can help, we're going to do it. Without Beth doing all the research, there is no way I could possibly do this as there just isn't enough time. I wish I had more time but am thankful that there are members like Beth who are good at this sort of thing, eager to help people and to be honest, I don't think "hard work" is even in her vocabulary. She just has that kind of persistence and drive in her. Overtime, with the use of the spreadsheet, we can easily see our success rate. We're still small enough that we can start this and add new members as they join and keep an ongoing list for years. We'll have years worth of data that will be instrumental in how we can continue to grow to meet the needs of the membership here. So, A HUGE thank you to the only Queen on the Quit Train for her willingness to do this. I'm going to pin this topic for a few as we feel it's a huge step in the right direction for Quit Train. :)

  7. Just as it takes time to learn to live without cigarettes in our lives, so does it too to live without an abusive relationship. When you cry it is for good reason. It's a release from all things that were destroying you. People in our society don't hug enough. Sometimes I'll see an old lady in the store who looks so lonely and I just want to give her a big hug.
  8. We didn't have to request anything to be changed as we can designate whichever titles we choose. Having said that, I have it set up where everybody can make their own titles up in your profile. :)

  12. I was in a very dark place a few weeks ago. I didn't smoke. I didn't want to smoke. I didn't think about smoking. I don't smoke anymore. Smoking was a beam of sunlight compared to where I was so please don't tell me that you're in such a dark place because you're smoking yet again. Your struggle is self-inflicted so there is no "woe me". It doesn't matter what creative label you want to smack on your forehead you're still a smoker and more importantly, an addict for life. Unless you get a grip on reality in the next few minutes, you'll be right back to smoking on your way to work in the morning, that's if you haven't already ran out and bought more cigarettes. You're an adult. Pick yourself up, dust yourself off and get back to the business of quitting by THROWING OUT ALL OF YOUR CIGARETTES AND FOR CRYING OUT LOUD, DON'T BUY ANYMORE! Start back at day one, just like a newbie because right now, that's what you are. Quit for good and your experiences will help countless others who struggle to stay quit but first you have to help yourself and the only way you can do this is to not smoke. Not so simple for you so welcome to Chapter 1. Day 1. Begin the begin. How To Quit Smoking This video lays out simple tips for people wanting to quit smoking. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=l27zWo7hbcY Why Do Smokers Smoke? 21. I hope you're better this morning. I'd tell that if you weren't to get your butt back here but I guess your reading this so you're already here. :) It sounds like you're fixating on a cigarette. I remember in the past when I would do this and since our minds our so powerful, when you fixate on something, especially something that you can easily have, it makes it very difficult to think about anything else. It's what we do as addicts when we want something that we know will lead us down a road we may never return from. It's not worth it. Hang on Holski, you'll get through this and at some point in the near future, you won't have to deal with such strong urges. Don't forget that you're coming up on 3 months and you know what that means. If not, watch below. Yep, you guessed it, a video from Joel's library which addresses fixating on a cigarette. Fixating On A Cigarette This video discusses how people often fixate on the desire to have "a good" cigarette. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OZLJ_nlkUCQ&list=PL4F05C03D0F9B86DB&index=42 The Terrible 3's This video discusses why people "may" have problems at three day and three month marks. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PTIr3UEez1w&list=PL4F05C03D0F9B86DB&index=11 Change Of Season Triggers - FALL Video discussed how change of season events and conditions may result in a temporary increase of thoughts for cigarettes. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ADlHtj7N8vo

  23. Who Wants To Go Back To Smoking? This video discusses how former smokers at times think they want to go back to smoking, but if they really remind themselves of the package deal that goes along with being a smoker, it will be easy for them to stick to their quit. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DG9qGjf2hd8&list=PL76365B6CE2DA076B
  24. Start watching the videos to keep your mind where it needs to be. Good Reasons To Take A Puff On A Cigarette After Having Quit Smoking For people who think that there are no good reasons to take a puff on a cigarette after quitting, and more importantly, for people who think that there might actually be good reasons. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wvHl-zwUdBo Related video: There is no legitimate reason to relapse https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tCm_5...

About us

QuitTrain®, a quit smoking support community, was created by former smokers who have a deep desire to help people quit smoking and to help keep those quits intact.  This place should be a safe haven to escape the daily grind and focus on protecting our quits.  We don't believe that there is a "one size fits all" approach when it comes to quitting smoking.  Each of us has our own unique set of circumstances which contributes to how we go about quitting and more importantly, how we keep our quits.
