  1. Iam, is this your site? If so, PM me. :)
  2. I sent her an email this evening...
  3. Cute little guy isn't he?
  4. She just vanished and the last we knew was that nobody had a clue where she was or what happened to her. Now we know what TAC is okay, we need to make sure that Rachael is okay. We knew when TAC left that he was going to be without Internet for awhile but with Rachael, nothing. Very concerned about her.
  5. This is the reason why QuitTrain was started. Not only do we have these stories in one place, but the reader can also ask questions, post SOS's and can get encouragement in real-time. :) There are some great books out there already about quitting smoking like Allen Carr's and Joel Spitzer's materials (which are completely free) so what will your book offer that is different than support forums such as this and other books already published? Do you have a publisher already? Are you a former smoker?
  6. I thought that I truly enjoyed smoking. For me, this turned out to be a false belief. Sure, there were the occasional cigarettes that were amazing, especially the first one with my morning coffee as I sprang back to life. But those were few and far between and what was left were thousands of cigarettes that I didn't enjoy and in fact, much of the time while smoking them I was thinking about how it was ruining my health and shortening my life. Now, my coffee tastes much better, I get to stay inside and peruse the forum while drinking it, no smoke in my eyes, no stink on my clothes and best of all, I don't even think about smoking EVER while drinking my morning coffee. I thought the correlation between smoking and drinking coffee would be something that I would have to deal with for the rest of my life and now it doesn't even exist. I thought it helped me relieve stress or enable me to better cope with it. Another falsehood. As it turned out, smoking caused more stress in my life. It caused me to feel guilty knowing that I was willingly robbing years of my life from my children, wife and family. This was a huge burden for me. The stress of knowing that I was killing myself. The stress of always concerning myself if I had enough cigarettes to get me through the workday. The list can go on and on. Smoking raises your blood pressure and forces your adrenal glands to produce adrenaline to flood your bloodstream to prepare for your body for "fight or flight". As a result, your blood pressure and heart rate increase significantly, your lungs expand to ready themselves for action and your pupils dilate; ultra aware of any impending danger. These reactions prove that smoking does not relieve stress. We think smoking relieves stress because when we smoke we're in a constant state of withdrawal. Every twenty minutes or so as our bodies have metabolized the nicotine, we crave more which causes us to go into withdrawal dozens of times throughout the day. How do we relieve this stress caused by smoking? Either continue smoking or quit. Once you quit smoking, you're no longer torturing your body and mind by feeding the addiction which causes in and of itself, more stress in our lives than we ever imagined while we were smoking. I think we could have an entire topic dedicated to how smoking caused stress in our lives instead of relieving it. These were my two big ones. I'm sure others will have the same but please write about them anyway because we want to learn about your experiences.
  7. What were the main obstacles that hindered quitting smoking for you? Explain what they were, how you got past them and if they were real or some notion that turned out to be false. Newbies, smokers and lurkers, this is for you! Please follow this link to our discussion. http://www.quittrain.com/topic/3249-group-discussion-wk44-what-was-stopping-you-from-quitting-smoking/?do=findComment&comment=87581

  9. False with capital F TPBM has thrown an object threw a window at some point in his/her life.
  10. Welcome to the forum and congrats on your decision to quit. Can't give any suggestions on the vapor flavors, but as long as you're using it like the patch or gum, it's fine. The only way to break the nicotine addiction is to get off it completely. I hope this is your goal. Nicotine is nicotine is nicotine. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KViTfIfHUv0
  11. TAC!!!!! Glad to see you back. You've been missed!
  12. A lot of members were having issues with their computers automatically logging them back in even after they logged out (I was one of them), closed the browser and then pulled it back up at a later time. Because of the obvious privacy issues this created, I found that I was able to make some changes. Once you log out, you'll have to re-enter your username and password when you pull the site back up. If you check "Remember Me", it will automatically populate for you and you'll just have to click enter or whatever the button is you click after you enter login credentials. If your browser asks you to update and or remember the password, click yes. The site generated password you can change in your profile and just use the same one that you picked that you've used all along. Let me know if you have any other issues. :)
  13. Congrats, Comrade!
  14. Great news! I know you have limited time to spend here, but when you can, keep checking in because you feel held more accountible when you do. At least I did. Glad to read this. :)

  19. Dealing With People Who Try To Undercut Your Quit This video discusses how there may be times when you encounter family members or friends who actually try to undercut your quit. Often they are smokers who feel threatened by your quit, but there are times where non-smokers may encourage you to relapse too. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_S46gMeHbws&list=PLC450F77D542064AB Related articles: Negative Support from Others http://ffn.yuku.com/topic/23019 Offers for cigarettes http://www.ffn.yuku.com/topic/11342 Quitting for Others http://www.ffn.yuku.com/topic/11559 My Support Group is Responsible! http://www.ffn.yuku.com/topic/9975

  21. You tricked me. I've been tricked! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=28z93Pw_POI
  22. One of the guys Joel talks about in the video was quit for over a decade, was at a party, was offered a cigar, smoked it (but didn't inhale it) and then relapsed instantly and started smoking again. Nicotine is nicotine is nicotine. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KViTfIfHUv0 Should I Reset My Quit Meter? Video stresses the importance of drawing a clear line in the sand regarding the issue of whether a person should reset their quit meter if they ever take a puff off of a cigarette, or really deliver nicotine via any tobacco product or other nicotine containing device. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=isfzV-Gmshk Cigar Burning Day!

About us

QuitTrain®, a quit smoking support community, was created by former smokers who have a deep desire to help people quit smoking and to help keep those quits intact.  This place should be a safe haven to escape the daily grind and focus on protecting our quits.  We don't believe that there is a "one size fits all" approach when it comes to quitting smoking.  Each of us has our own unique set of circumstances which contributes to how we go about quitting and more importantly, how we keep our quits.
