  2. If for some reason you started smoking again, no shame in coming back. The majority of us have relapsed so it's nothing new but you need to learn about this addiction and stay active to beat it. At least it makes it much easier. :)
  3. I know for me, I'd much rather deal with withdrawal than any of the diseases caused by smoking. Actually, I'd rather deal with withdrawal than even having the flu.
  4. Video discusses that the real roller coaster ride that people experience from cigarettes is not from quitting but rather from continuing to smoke. http://www.quittrain.com/topic/4753-videos-addressing-issues-early-in-your-quit/?p=136950
  5. Quitting smoking is really a simple process. However, "simple" does not always mean "easy". This video explains the difference between the two. http://www.quittrain.com/topic/4753-videos-addressing-the-first-two-weeks-of-your-quit/?p=136126
  6. I haven't seen it yet but his death was unsettling. Always seemed like just a regular guy like I would hang out with. Didn't seem to buy into his own hype, although who could blame him if he did? That was a sad one for sure.
  7. I watched my grandfather suffer for years with this. It's no way to live.
  8. GR8 job!!
  9. Awesome job! :)
  10. If you need help with learning how to use various features of this forum, please ask. All this new stuff can seem a bit daunting at times but once you do it once, it's easy. :)
  11. Hi buMbLeB, When a spammer is flagged as such, their account and posts get zapped. Since the fake member was flagged as a spammer, all of their threads and posts automatically got deleted. Whenever the first post in any thread is deleted, all of the posts below it go with it. It's just how message board software has worked since I first was involved with it 15 years ago. So, whenever anybody replies to a spammer who starts a thread, the entire thread goes away. If a spammer posts in the middle of a thread that is not spam, only the spammer and it's post(s) will be deleted leaving the thread and all of the other posts complete. If anybody wants to banter with a spammer, just do so knowing that if the spammer started the thread, everything below it will go away as well. It's just the nature of spam and software. If there is an issue with a member posting something that is inappropriate for this quit smoking message board, myself or one of the moderators will send a private message to inquire about what's going on. If it's bad enough, the member will have the chance to edit it or we will simply hide it or if it's bad enough, delete it. However if somebody posts something that is harmful to any of our members or this community, I will immediately delete it. Having said that, I've never had to do it. :) Please read something that I posted when we first started this site but has long since been buried in threads. I should probably place it in our site guidelines. :) "As I've stated elsewhere my views on freedom of speech or more aptly, the right to be published, as is the case here, I'll mention them again. There is a difference between freedom of speech and the right to be published. Freedom of speech will only give people the right to make their own web site to express their opinions, but they may not demand to be published on any other web sites. A good example is book publishing: You may write your own book, but you may not go to a publisher and demand them to publish it for you. If you want to publish it, and there are no publishers willing to do it, you would have to print the book yourself and contact any stores and ask them if they would sell it. If nobody will sell it, you'll have to open your own store to sell it."
  12. Nope.
  13. Yes. The ts was a spammer and the account was deleted. :)

  15. I've been seeing chiropractors for years for my back. The most recent one was my hip and the only thing that helps it are stretches. If I do them at least once per day, I'm good but unfortunately, I rarely do. They require little effort and just time. I need to get into a routine and do them in them 3x's per day like I'm supposed to. There are some that he showed me which I can do at work without laying on the floor looking like a weirdo. :) Doing heavy work with my hands is what starts the whole thing with my wrists. I can type forever with no issues but if I've done any kind of heavy work with my hands (using big pipe wrenches and other things at work) that's when my hands go numb typing etc. Like right now typing I'm fine. But doing what I have to do today at work, they'll no doubt be numb and be waking me up all night.
  16. I had to up it to 250 per day because people were running out. It may even be up to 500, can't remember. The default was like 25 but the members here are a really happy group and like a lot of stuff. lol!!!!
  17. I assume your stylist is a woman? If so, it's about control. :yahoo:
  18. How many of those 7 had a support group for quitting? It's makes a difference. Besides, I'm not convinced that those numbers are true. NRT companies want you to believe that so you buy their product. Big tobacco wants you to believe it so you throw in the towel and buy their death. I don't believe those numbers are accurate but even if they are, it has nothing to do with your quit. You've quit, you have a great support group and you know the truth about this addiction. Grind this shit out.
  19. For those of you who have your personal settings to receive email notifications for forums or threads you follow, private messages etc., are you getting them as you normally have in the past?
  20. Happy Birthday, Beth!!! So glad you're here on the train. :)

About us

QuitTrain®, a quit smoking support community, was created by former smokers who have a deep desire to help people quit smoking and to help keep those quits intact.  This place should be a safe haven to escape the daily grind and focus on protecting our quits.  We don't believe that there is a "one size fits all" approach when it comes to quitting smoking.  Each of us has our own unique set of circumstances which contributes to how we go about quitting and more importantly, how we keep our quits.
