  9. Happy birthday, mod!!!
  10. I don't remember coughing up some gunk two times in one day, very small amounts but that was at least two months after I quit, if I remember correctly. I guess I had knocked out enough cilia that it took that long for them to regenerate/start working again. I remember hoping that I would be coughing up massive amounts of gunk but it wasn't hardly anything. Some people cough up a ton of crap while others only cough up a little or none. I would be more concerned if you had a cough that hung around for a long time. ;)
  11. TAC, all of the above are not extraordinary and in many cases, the norm. Guess what? People still quit. Beautiful women have nothing to do with you smoking or not. Working in a place where others smoke has nothing to do with you smoking or not and certainly not other people drinking. Quitting In A Smoking Friendly Society Video addresses the concerns of smokers who live in areas where the use of cigarettes is still the norm who think that because of the ubiquitous acceptability of smoking that quitting is close to impossible. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zQovglTVizs Avoiding Situations Where You Used To Smoke Video discusses the importance of facing triggers head on as opposed to the natural inclination of many to avoid situations where they used to smoke. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=M681p2B-8kA Watching Others Smoke Video discussing how to watch others smoke and to use such occasions to reinforce your desire to stay smoke free. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zEEk5-0kj1A

  15. I'll quit tomorrow. More times than not, those "tomorrows" turn into months and years which is one of the reasons why so many of us quit with years and or decades of smoking under our belts. I quit at 7:00 pm back in 2013. The best time to quit is right now, today! http://www.quittrain.com/topic/4753-videos-addressing-issues-early-in-your-quit/
  16. The keyword is choose. You will always have a choice to smoke but the good news is that the longer you keep nicotine out of your system, the choice to smoke oftentimes does not even enter your mind. I know that everybody is different, but with some of the things that I've been through in my personal life since I quit, lighting up DID NOT enter my mind at all. In the past, this was not the case at all. Once you educate yourself and are 100% committed to never smoke again, something clicks at some point in time and through living life and not lighting up, that option to smoke is way, way down on the list of ways to cope with things. You have to put in the time to get to this point and trust me and others here, it's worth it! Right now smoking is on your mind because you're winning the battle against your addiction to nicotine. You're dealing with this addiction in a way that will keep you smoke-free for the rest of your life. Keep grinding and never, ever give an inch to nicotine, especially by means of smoking it. PS, don't hope because when you hope when dealing with an addiction such as nicotine, you open the door to failure. Tell yourself that no matter what, you've made a commitment to never smoke again and you refuse to break a promise to yourself. No hope or luck is ever needed. Just being smarter than nicotine because let's face it, it's a stupid weed that doesn't have a brain.

About us

QuitTrain®, a quit smoking support community, was created by former smokers who have a deep desire to help people quit smoking and to help keep those quits intact.  This place should be a safe haven to escape the daily grind and focus on protecting our quits.  We don't believe that there is a "one size fits all" approach when it comes to quitting smoking.  Each of us has our own unique set of circumstances which contributes to how we go about quitting and more importantly, how we keep our quits.
